I think I know how Jeeps work, and then I look under Tyler's Jeep and I'm, "what the hell is that?"

Haha, if I knew that I wouldn't be saying WTH, now would I? lol

That bar sticking out in front of the diff seems odd (kinda like a horizontal truss or something lol), and then is that cable to compress the front susp?

I love the look on your face in that pic. It says, "that's right, the Jeep is bad @$$ and so am I."

I thought he had full hydro or whatever. I thought hydro assist is the lesser version of what Tyler has?

Yes I have full hydro. And yes, hydro assist is the "lesser version" of what I have.

That horizontal bar you see is what the hydraulic ram mounts on. You can see more of it if you scroll down a bit here. http://mallcrawlin.com/forum/showthr...Crawler/page17

The "cable" is my synthetic winch line and I hook it up to my front axle to keep the front suspension from unloading on really steep climbs. One of the best things I've ever done is add that.

I'm looking at the thing welded to the front axle that looks like it has a winch line running to it. Sort of looks like it's holding itself up off the ground.

edit: I feel dumb, how did so much time go buy before I posted, I swear the answers weren't there, really they weren't.

hahaha no worries man. Sucking the front end down doesn't limited articulation much, since it's at the center of the axle, it really only limits how much the axle can droop at the same time. I wheel with the winch line hooked up and no slack 90% of the time.

Interesting. I've seen suck down winches used in the past, but not like that. They've usually been on one side or the other. I kinda dig that idea. Short wheelbase = I can use any advantage possible on steep inclines...

Get out of the past Andy. This is old tech!
J/K
But serious...

EDIT: I told you to get out of the past and then said this is old tech. Clarification is that this tech is old, and your further in the past then this. Clear as mud?

This is an article I came across a few years ago: http://www.stu-offroad.com/suspension/sdw/sdw-1.htm

It was the first I had seen the suck down winch idea. I've seen it a few times since then, but always over one front wheel or the other, never in the center of the front axle like Tyler's. But I'm usually out of the loop so I'm sure this old tech.

Still no idea what you were saying tho Brian

Yeah me neither. There was a slam in there somewhere about being behind on the times. I gave up on it though.
