Same, just pulled my brain back out of the bleach I put it in to try and clean the image out.

1) Those are "equipment violations", not MV's or PV's (Moving Violations or Parking Violations.) Should be no points against you.

2) If the vehicle came from the factory with a CHMSL (Center High-Mount Stop Lamp,) you are required to have one. If it didn't come from the factory that way, you should be able to have it dismissed. What year is your rig? If it didn't have one OEM, you don't need to have one now (per FMVSS.)

First off the thread you quoted was from 2010. Second this is Utah not California where we don't have "equipment violations" we get moving violations and parking violations and fix it tickets. also each county is diffrent then the next and tooele police have nothing better to do. His biggest problem now is his ties don't fit under his Jeep but oh well.

is right ALTHOUGH since i went to full widths - i get hassled less than when i was on 35's and 37's. x2

1) I don't see dates on these things, I just see them come up with "new posts." Ergo, there was recent activity.

2) "Equipment Violation" = "Fix-it Ticket." Same-same.

3) There may be variations under state laws, but FMVSS is Federal (FMVSS = Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards - governs equipment, crashworthiness, and the like. If it were emissions, it would be under EPA regs - but you can find most of both of those under 46CFR Part 1, I believe.)

Since the CHMSL is governed/guided by Federal regulations, I felt safe commenting on that (since I've run headfirst into FMVSS at work before, making jobs more difficult than they had to be.)

DRL? FMVSS.
CHMSL? FMVSS.
Stop/Tail/Turn lamps? FMVSS.
Headlamps? FMVSS.

There may be state laws refining them (if I thought so, I'd refer him to his state Vehicle Code,) but State laws can only refine FMVSS requirements, they can't waive them.
