Moving or Non Moving Violations

Over the weekend, I was informed that I will be making a mandatory donation to Tooele County. I'm receiving the ticket for 1. No mud flaps, 2. No 3rd brake light, then 2 warnings (no front license plate and my tires sticking out past the fenders).

What I'm wondering is if these are moving or non moving violations. In my mind, moving violations are speeding, running stop signs, wreck less driving....and so on. Does anyone know if these will be non moving violations? (i hope so, cause I've read that non moving violations don't go on driving records......)

No third brake light!? Since when is that a requirement!? My first car didn't even have one from the factory!

I think the Highway Patrol guy said anything built after ......1992? Requires a 3rd Brake light I had no idea. Now I've gotta do something custom...and make it look good

Also I found out those violations are NON MOVING violations.

Wow, I didn't know that.

That cop was a d-bag BTW.

I'm all about the custom lighting!

So what is it that you're going after with the non vs moving violations? Are those cheaper or something? Don't go on your record?

I have a third brake light sitting on the floor boards of my XJ. Let me know if you want it. You can have it for free as that was my cost...

Ah. I thought they called it a mandatory donation.
It would be non-moving, so not hit on your insurance.

Yup not a moving violation.. No points or on your record

as for the 3rd tail light. It's required in any vehicle it came stock on. Meaning you can't remove one that came on your vehicle. Which lots of tj guys do cause thy can't fit a bigger spare under the stock light..

I took a round stoplight from autozone and wired it in, then stuck it in the centercap hole on my TJ

Whenever you like. If you're in Utah county, just give me a ring. I'll leave it in the Jeep. If you're going to the June social I could bring it then, too. But I've got a feeling you need it right away...

Braden, did you ever get a chance to see my 3rd brake light?.... Of course not because you wheel like a crazy person and I can never catch up... But I just drilled a some small holes in the center cap of the spare, installed some small red LED's and wired them to the stock location.
