Mountain Dew Trail on Saturday June 22nd

Mountain Dew in Emery County Utah
Difficulty: 3.5/3.5+
Location: Trail Starts along the road to the Wedge Overlook near buckhorn wash in Emery County.
Distance: Trail is about 6 miles long (3 in, 3 back out).

Description: The trail starts off easy enough with a gradual climb up a mix of dirt and rock. Several spots your are completely on Conglomerate rock (tons of small rocks cemented together), which gives great traction. The hardest part of the trail consists of conglomerate rock with some steep steps and tight turns. From here it drops down a dugway. If the weather is bad the dugway may not be passable, as it consists mainly of clay soil. The trail ends with a great over look of the Buck Horn Flat.

A group of friends and I will be headed to run this trail on June 22nd and anyone is welcome to join. If you need or want more info, let me know!!!

Very cool country out that way. What time do you anticipate starting/returning? If I can be back in Manti by 6 for the pageant I would be interested...

meeting in price at 10. 30 minutes to trailhead and probably about 5 hours on the trail. I bet you could make it by 6.

Any chance you could google earth me the trailhead? If I can pull it off I'm thinking that I would meet you there since I have to drop down to I70 to get over to Price anyway, but I'm not familiar with this specific trail...

Very helpful... looks like it starts just east of Orangeville. Man, I wonder if the road over the top is open. That would be the most direct route although this time of year it could entail busting a ton of drifts still

it's gotta be open by now. I can't imagine there still being enough snow on the roads up there

Word on the street is that they use a road grader to punch through the bigger drifts and its open. I might have to go for a Sunday drive to verify tho
