We could save Elephant Hill for Thanksgiving weekend when my family will be there. It might he a good run for Reagan to tune her driving skills.

Metal Masher and Moab Rim sound like good options. I ran MM in '09 in my YJ, but don't remember much except getting stuck on Rock Chucker.

Sounds good, that is a great trail and she would enjoy driving it. I am game for anything.

It's been a few years since I have been to Moab, anyone know of a good place to camp? Damn near every hotel is booked that weekend due to a marathon or something.

I usually camp at big bend. It's along the river. I've also camped at the koa but it sucked since there are no fires allowed.

I have a tent sight reserved at Riverside Oasis good for 2 people. Since I will be traveling solo this trip, I have a discounted nightly rate (roughly $12) available for one person (please provide your own tent). I will be there Wednesday evening until Sunday morning. See you next week!

Will - since you are the OP, where do you want to meet / what trail Thursday am? A few ideas from me...

Flat Iron Mesa
Cliff Hanger
Seven Mile Rim
Strike Ravine
Top of the World (if you want to go again)

I figured Metal Masher and Moab Rim on Friday/Saturday if Jarrod wants to lead the Rim?

Cliffhanger and Seven Mile Rim sound fun...With Cliffhanger, we may have time to run up to Chicken corners for a scenic/picture ride. We can meet in town somewhere that morning in the AM. I am game, just let me know what you want to do. I am looking forward to another wheeling trip!

I have no idea, I have never been on either trail. I would assume that you could damage rockers on either trail though...My trail book lists the Hardest trails in Moab as:
Pritchett Canyon
Behind the Rocks
**Golden Spike
Moab Rim
**Steel Bender
**Gold Bar Rim
Metal Masher
Flat Iron Mesa
**Poison Spider
**Rose Garden Hill...etc

I have put my sliders to the test on Golden Spike, Steel Bender, Gold Bar and Rose Garden Hill. I don't remember scraping at all on Poison Spider or Hells Revenge. I have only been on the trails marked **.

Keep in mind that I have Iceland Sliders, they sit a little more than 1/4 inch below the pinch seam, higher than others. If you pick good lines you might be okay, but you always run the risk of damaging them. If you don't want to risk the damage, I am sure we will have plenty of night runs as well...Poison, Hells, Fins

well then I guess I won't be running those trails then ha. sounds like the only trails my WJ will see is the night runs.

The rest of the trip I will probably just tag along with someone else if there is a seat available.

I know, I'll just be the group photographer!

I'm still trying to figure out if I am going to come!! Should know by the tomorrow...
If I do go, it will be my first time to Moab!! So I have never been on any of these trails... I've done a little research, but what do you think? Can i make it on all those trails? I am thinking my only problem should be Moab rim? So ill probably sit out for that. But what about the others? I've never been so please tell me what you think.

Will pulled a stock JK Rubicon 4 door through Steel Bender. If you have 33's and skid plates, most Moab trails will be manageable. The night runs will be on easier trails that can be done almost stock.

I agree, you should be fine for most of those trails. Looks like I will be down there on Sat-Sun. Hopefully I'll be able to hook up with you guys on Saturday for a run.

Yeah i would say most rigs would be fine with sliders. On metal masher there is that chute that could really suck without sliders if you slid off the rock at the entrance. I actually had to winch up that chute my first time down there since i had to lockers. Jeff managed to punch it up in a wheelspin of glory after a few tries with his comanche.

Also obviously take the bypass to widowmaker on that trail and back track to the top of it to check it out. Its gnarly.
