Mar 19 Trail Run

Unfortunately this is the only weekend in March that works for me. Put it on your calendars now so we can have a big group.

I would settle for the snakes again, but I have been on the snakes so much, they are now like putting a song on repeat. (worn out and not as fun as it used to be)

Where else could we go and have a good time?

I'm in.

Here are some Trails (but they are prob too far away):

1. No Way Hill (3.5), scenic trail ride through Miller and Amasee Valley. Passable for all stock vehicles with optional challenges for vehicles with aftermarket performance parts.

2. Cat Canyon (4), scenic and challenging trail ride through Cat Canyon. Obstacles include The Cliff Hanger, the Rock Garden and Jaw Bone. Good equipment is an advantage, but vehicles with a lift and larger tires have made it through.

3. Chainsaw (4+), scenic and challenging trail ride through Bird Canyon and to the gold mine near the top of the canyon. Obstacles include the Fuel Dump, Axle Buster, Waterfall, the Gauntlet and the optional Cabin Door for the extreme enthusiast.

4. New Helldorado (4+), scenic and challenging drive through the Topaz Mt. area. The trail consists of a twisty boulder path through a sandy wash. The main obstacles are the Body Snatcher and the Big Climb at the end. The Body Snatcher and the Big Climb can be bypassed.

5. Buggy Boulevard (4++) scenic and very challenging ride through Smelter Knowels. The start of the trail is the Buggy Boulevard. Other obstacles past the Boulevard include Houses of the Holies hill climb, the Son of a Gun and the optional Rocky Gulch that has never been successfully driven.

6. Hell's Back Bone (5+), scenic and extremely challenging drive through the
Topaz Mt. area. This trail is for highly modified vehicles with drivers that don't scare easily and can handle body damage and broken parts. Limit of 10 vehicles for this trail. Obstacles have no bypasses except the Big Vertical at the end.

7. Desert Mountain (5+), scenic and extremely challenging drive through the
Desert Mountain recreation area. This trail is for highly modified vehicles with skilled drivers
that can handle broken parts. Warning, driving these obstacles can result in roll overs and destroyed equipment, it can also a lot of fun if your prepared and have the necessary skills. Limit of 15 vehicles for this trail.

All trail difficulty ratings on the Moab 1-5 scale.

Justin/Braden, what's the most difficult Moab trail rating either of you have tried and does that rating also correspond with the highest rating you are willing to try?

I've done some 5 trails, but taken the bypass on the worst obstacles. Does that count?

Ok, well I just got off the phone with Justin about this and here's the deal:

A couple of us would like to go camping this same weekend, but we don't want to step on y'all's toes with the trail run or anything. So the thought was that we'd invite ALL to go camping to Topaz Mountain (leave TH after work and come back Saturday). There is plenty to do there for any technical level (the built guys can do New Helldorado) and we can all camp in the same general area (for those who want to). Then if anyone wants to wheel anywhere, they're free to do so to their heart's content! I'll also be conducting topaz rock hounding lessons for anyone interested.

If anyone would rather go to another location, please know you can do that as well - Topaz Mountain is just an option.
