I'm wanting about the same. Hard top for sure, I've been looking for 03-06 Rubi's and/or LJ's. My biggest thing is having the inside clean and not have hacked on mods. I don't want to swap an axle or do lockers or gears though which is why I haven't looked at other trims.

I got a pretty decent offer from a dealer today on my truck and he is bringing an '04 LJ in to look at on Friday. We'll see how it goes. I'm already not excited about it being white but I don't know.

After cruising the classifieds this afternoon though I'm starting to wonder if I ought to look at early JKU's despite the mini van motor. I just don't know... As much as I would love a 3.6 liter JK I don't want to pay for one. I'm hoping to pay about 15k for whatever I end up with.

I'm looking for 8-10k so I'm definately looking at a lil older/ lower model. That's why I'm so concerned about axle swaps already, i wanna be able to buy the jeep, buy a pile if parts, and get to work getting it lifted and on 35's!

I haven't the skills to do an axle swap on my own and have confidence in it which is one of the reasons for getting a newer rig than my current CJ7. I'm fine with something stock since I would sell my CJ7 and could probably thrown any money from that sale into the new one. I know my CJ isn't worth a ton but it would be enough for a decent lift and a good chunk of the tires.

curious, you say your going to mod it, put lockers in/new rear axle. believe i saw you say you wanted 35's eventually. that said go with early gen rubi(03-04) may be more expensive in the front end but will run 35s with no real issues and already has 44's FRONT and REAR. It also has disc brakes all around, along with front and rear lockers.

that said you get what you pay for but i think a rubi is more on par with what your truely looking for. atleast from the description of what you do and allows you to modify other parts of the vehicle in a little more need.

just my 2 cents gl with whatever you choose.

If I can find a rubi for 12-13 I'll do it in a heartbeat^^^ they're hard to find though... plus building it is half the fun!

No only rubicons. Typical d30-d44 or 30-35 combos have drum rears.
