Guns allowed up mineral basin?

Just wanting to stay within the law. My bro wants a day of wheeling and shooting and I'm kinda bored with 5-mile. There are several huge clearings up mineral basin. Is it ok to shoot up there?

No shooting allowed up in AF canyon. Also 5 mile. Should see big signs on the road.

for real? last time I was up with a few folks going up mineral regularly, they say you can shoot, I pop the question when I saw the bullet shells near the campground.

Who owns all that land? Is it a national forest, state, or what?

That's why I was asking, I thought it was national forest land.

You can hunt national forest i would assume you can shoot a gun in them.... But the best place would be to call the DWR or something similar....

You can have your guns where ever you want in Utah (excluding federal buildings and such), target shooting and hunting are limited to certain public lands or private land.

Look up the USFS laws on where you can shoot within the USFS boundaries. You have to be so far away from a raod and campsite and stay out of the wilderness study areas.

Don't rely on what other Jeepers and friends say. Just because someone said they have shot somewhere before does not mean it is legal.

Specific areas are regularly shut down for gun use due to fire risk, but this information is posted online by the agency responsible for the land.
