Awesome! I'm glad your getting a nice long adventure like this! I just told my wife that next year were going all week. I'm lucky we're doing Friday-Sunday this year.

Sorry if this is a side track, but I noticed you flat tow. I just picked up a tow bar. Any advise? Do I leave the jeep in drive and TC in N with the steering wheel unlocked? I'm a total noob to this ha ha. Thanks

Hope to see ya down there man!

For a manual you put the t-case in neutral, and the transmission in gear. I usually do 5th gear. Then you have to have the steering wheel unlocked so on mine it has a spot with the key where its not on but isn't locked. Lastly I can't remember if you have a front locker or not but if you do you need to have locking hubs that you can unlock it or if a selectable locker then turn it off. You cannot flat tow with a front locker engaged. What happens is when the tow while turns left then the vehicle being towed turns right.

Well mine is an auto so I read drive or park. I have a Detroit so I guess I'll be taking out my front drive shaft... Darn

Edit: I'm still wondering if it would be fine. A Detroit is essentially "unlocked" with no torque applied. And if its in neutral (TC) that's the same as taking the DS out. I guess I'll do a test pull around the block.

Yeah give it a test pull. My understanding is even with the shaft pulled it will not work correctly with that detroit up front. And yeah you would be in Park with the T case in nuetral.

In one of the pictures on day 2 it might look like we were stacking rocks so that I could get up that ledge, but we weren't. We were, uh, trying to increase the difficulty of the obstacle. Yeah, that's it.

I thought those were chunks you broke off while hammering away at the obstacle.

Can't tell for sure, but are you literally the only YJ in a sea of JKs?
