That would be a good question for someone who has had theirs installed for more than a week, so I'm hoping Brian chimes in. I've used mine a whopping 1 day and I'll say that it tuned easily and quickly and while I didn't do much transmitting, the reception was great. I'm used to talking on more commercial, powerful radios (50+ watt) so I'm destined to be disappointed with CB range eventually.

The only person I had trouble hearing on the trip was Jeff and he was at the back of 17 rigs and using a DI special CB.

Honestly if you get 1 mile range with a CB id be impressed. In a canyon all bets are off. CB's just suck honestly. When you realize you can only legally be pushing 4 watts then it doesn't much matter what brand you use and with a jeep we don't have the real estate to hook up massive trucker antennas. The only advantage of CBs is everyone has them and they are cheap, that's why everyone uses them. Me personally im getting a HAM radio as soon as I can and ill run both. That's a real radio.

We should push for UJC members to get licensed. I can chat with people 50 miles away on 2 meter simplex.

Not sure how far along you are Brian but at qrz.com you can take practice tests with the actual questions. Memorize the answers then go take the test (I think they have them weekly at BYU?) and you'll be set. I need to study for and take the general class test so I can get an HF mobile in my Jeep. We were in the bottom of a canyon in the San Rafael Swell stopped for lunch when one of the guys started chatting with a guy from Portland on simplex

Yeah I posted on there that joining on Facebook doesn't get you in the event. I still need a message or joining on here I even put it on a line by itself so it would stand out. I need to come up with a better method and we are trying new things. Combining jeep forum and Facebook is proving difficult.

Hmmmm... Well shoot, now I dunno! Guess I'll go mess with my center console and see if I can find a space. That will be my deciding factor probably.

Hey guys if you are looking for a snow shovel for the Rig check these out. 2 shovels for $20! @ Costco! I grabbed one for the trip so I thought I would pass along the good info.
