We are going to wait til the event is closer before choosing the mid gunner since we don't want that spot changing up a lot if people drop out.

I'll have to install a CB so that I can at least have a shot at that spot.

This is going to be a total HIJACK of this thread, so feel free to tell me to shut it at any point... But this thread specifically has highlighted for me the need of having a CB. Looking around the last 24 hrs has me itching for the Cobra 25 LTD Classic. 40 channel, RF gain and squelch for a relatively cheap price. Could even add a PA if I wanted. Any reason to think this won't work great? If this gets to be a question that people want to discuss in depth I'll just create a separate thread.

I'm sure that model would work fine.

There are several of us that use the 75WXST (http://www.amazon.com/Cobra-75WXST-4...cobra+75+wx+st) because of the size and setup. You can mount the box under the dash and only have the mic connected when you really need it... good for concealing if you're running topless or whatever. I'm not trying to change your mind or anything, just letting you know of some of the considerations I've had myself when choosing a radio.

I finally got mine installed and tuned for the Mineral Basin run last week and it was definitely handy and I recommend getting any CB so you can be more in the loop on the trail

The 75 was the other front runner last night because of its size... Then I read one review that said the quality was sub-par. The guys said he was unable to hear and, more importantly to me, be heard by others. And of course I believe everything on the internet so I got nervous. You ever had issues of others not being able to understand what you were saying while using the 75?
