Ely is a little town, mostly mining, about 250 miles North of Vegas.

not much there, but there are a few good restaurants.

and the wheeling is amazing.

I do more of the scenic stuff, but there is a little of everything up that way.

and the BLM office up there is one of the most receptive to wheelers I've ever heard of. I think probably because there are so many hunters and people who need to off-road for various other things that it is not driven by ideologies that cut off land to people and relegate them to staring at it from afar.

Part of my major as a geologist required us to spend 6 weeks in the field, doing field work. I did mine through UNR, and the field-station we stayed in for a couple days was in Ruth. I was stuck riding around in the school's suburbans. How I wish I was free to roam around in my jeep out there. But don't break stuff, or wheel alone! Thanks for the shots.

one of the members of the club is a hunter and goes out all the time.

he recently got id of his TJ, but he told me that he had, of the first, 3000 miles he put, 2800 were off road miles.

and I believe him. There is an unbelievable amount of trails up there.
