Place to stay in RENO?
I am trying to get some recommendations for a nice place to stay in Reno. I will only be passing through for one night on my way to Tahoe but wanted to stay there and see what the town is like. I know this is not really Jeep related but I have had received some great advice here in the forum and thought you all might be able to steer me in the right direction once again. THANKS FOR YOU SUGGESTIONS:cheers2:

If you just need a place to sleep go to motel 6. If your going to hang out in the room then find a room at any of the casino's. Remember all motels look the same with the lights turned off.

I am going with my wife and our 6 year old daughter and my wife's parents. I would prefer to stay in one of the casinos since we can leave our daughter with the inlaws and have a little time to play around and maybe gamble a little since date nights are few and far between nowadays!!!

In that case, you might as well stay at the Circus Circus. Then you can do some stuff with the daughter as well. They've got that whole area sort of interconnected now, with the Silver Legacy and I think the El Dorado. Also ALL of the casinos are hurting right now, so if you stay mid-week you should be able to get a room in the $39 range. I just saw a commercial for the Grand Sierra in Reno, with mid-week rates at $39 at night with the second night free, and $25 toward meals.

Where you at in OKC?

I've stayed at Johnny ascuaga nugget 4 times and will stay there again on the 16th-18th. I work in louisiana but there is a pump shop there we have to go to sometimes. It's a good place to stay...usually less than 60/night..large rooms..good food..and rarely crowded.

i think its

There's an expression I heard several times......."Reno is so close to hell, you can see Sparks". Anyway, the Nugget is nice, Peppermill (Tuscany Tower) is great and the Sierra Springs Resort is also very nice. I would take my wife to any of those places. It's funny how when we travel with our wifes, the class of hotel we stay in goes up.......

Yep, born and raised in Moore. My family all still lives out there.

I've also stayed lots of times at the JA Nugget, usually get some good deals there too.

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times. Pretty nice and affordable.

I suggest staying somewhere on main street (Virginia St.). Circus Circus is nice and so are most of the bigger casinos. I would stay out of the motels on the outskirts. If you venture too far off of Virginia it can get sketchy at night (i.e. prostitutes). The Peppermill is nice but it is way out of the way. I would go with John Esquaga's Nugget (sp?), Circus Circus (GREAT for kids), Atlantis, and the Eldorado. All of those are nice larger hotels in the downtown area.

I've stayed at the El Dorado before. liked it. Liked Ichiban better.

Forget about Reno. If your heading up to Tahoe, stay at the base of the mountain in a town called Minden. Carson Valley Inn is were I stayed. Cheap, casino, food, what else can you ask for before you hit the mountain. Its only a half hour up to the top from Minden.

The time now is 12:10 AM.
