after seeing the cost of running a newer car here, I wonder if we are going to stay here after the boss gets out of the AF. The way that I see it, and not that I like Texas, that is far from the truth. When we got a car in Texas, we paid the same tax rate (granted the was no credit for the trade in), no smog, $60 a year for registration, insurance was the same, gas was lower, and there was no state income taxes either. So why would it be $60 to register my car in Texas yet it is over $400 a year here? If you register two cars here that are around 20-25k... that is $800 a year. I just think about all the Jeep parts that I could buy for that much.
Now I see why they have a constable that his only job is to enforce out of state tags. I am very happy that they do have a military clause so we pay under $40 a year.
daily rant over!!

I love Texas! I've never had a bad experience there. As a whole, people in Texas still have manners. At least, most of the people I've met there do.

It practically is a different country in Texas. It's still ok to be patriotic in Texas.

Yes it does. I went to tech school there when I was in the AF.

Nothern Texas seemed like any other part of the US. It didn't seem to have that Texas culture. Central and South Texas were fine. People still tipped their cowboy hats to each other.

my issue is i have an AUTO ECU in my jeep cause it was a 3 speed auto about 3 months ago. Now it's a 6sp. manual. Runs great but the ECU thinks the transmission is all messed up. LOL Hence the new ECU I've got on it's way right now.

How are you resetting it? Just disconnecting neg cable or touching pos cable to ground?
Edit. Nevermind. I see you have a new one coming.

I have a scan guage that I typically use but yes, I have a new one on it's way. I owe the one that is in my jeep currently to the guy who bought my transmission. It was part of the deal that I'd get him the ECU once I found a manual replacement one for mine. I just need to talk to my uncle and see if I can just bring in the bare ecu to do it or if they go thru the OBDii port to do it meaning I need to drive the whole jeep in.
IF the CEL would stay off for enough to drive 15-20 miles so I can get thru smog I'd be fine but that's not the case. It comes on instantly cause it knows the torque converter isn't working properly since it doesn't exist anymore on my jeep! LOL
Plus like I said, I owe my current ECU to someone else so I needed to make good on the agreement anyways...
