Yet another hazard in the mines. We were barely in an hour when we heard a deafening pop. My friend from Virginia went down. We thought someone discharged their sidearm and he was hit. He was calm. He laid down, elevated his foot for inspection and there was blood dripping from the split sole of his boot.

As far as we can tell, it appears as though he stepped on a discarded blasting cap. Had it been dynamite, he likely would have lost his leg. There was a burn mark on his boot and a small crater where he was stepping. There were 6 of us today. He was the last to walk through that area. Footprints were overlapping footprints. It was just his turn, I guess. Funny how that works.

That ended our day. I got some good pictures, but not as many as I wanted. He's so inconsiderate. Otherwise, he's fine. They'll discharge him in a few hours.

Thanks for the suggestions men. We ended up training at Xtreme Couture. They let you pay for single days. We had a great time beating up strangers and each other. Learned a few new ways to make someone cry.

We had an early dinner at Craft Steak in MGM. The women spent most of their playtime at some horse racing game that takes quarters. The guys played poker for a few hours.

We did look at Springs Preserve online and unless they let us drive through it, it didn't look all that fun. Speaking of driving, I got to drive a 2012 JK and a 2011 JK and the difference was incredible. We took turns racing each other. The 2011 was slightly faster off the line, but the 2012 quickly gained a comfortable lead and easily increased it. It will be an amazing experience when the superchargers for the Pentastar engine are released.

We're hoping to get into a few mines and do some climbing tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. Hopefully, not a single foot will get blown up.

That was just a fluke. We were well into a mine at levels that probably haven't been seen since the mine was working. The only time we've ever seen anything explosive like that was in the most difficult to reach levels.

He's been discharged and resting well. He likes the way his pain meds make his beer feel. This is a guy that is a veteran of 5 US conflicts. He comes to visit me and almost loses his foot.

Kinda reminds me of my buddy when I was in the Air Force. I was a Crew Chief on C-141’s. While we would fill the Oxygen bottle, liquid Oxygen would bleed off and roll around on the ground as it boiled off. He would stomp on them to make them pop. If you ever see a c-141 shut down they would dump the fuel manifolds and fuel would hit the flight line. Well long story short, during one of his little stomping games he hit fuel with the oxygen and… well…. boom. After that now had 2 more hinged joints on his right leg.



On a Side note Pure Oxygen was the best hangover cure. When I was working post dock after the Isochronical inspections we had to work sat and sun. well we still partied it up fri and sat. Head up to the cockpit suck on the Oxygen for about 10-20 min and we would be good for about 2-3 hrs.

What did you do in the Air Force? I served in the Navy as a SAR Corpsman. For the most part, it was a great job. I couldn't believe they actually paid me for that. My intention when enlisting was just to use it for college, so I could become an officer and my Dad would have to call me "Sir". He retired as a Master Chief. No longer motivated, I moved on.

Anyone else here serve in the military? If not, why do you hate America? Just kidding. It's not for everyone.

I did 6 in the AF working Egress Systems (ejection seats). Now I'm a contractor doing the same thing making a hell of a lot more. Lol
