Nevada Trail Photo and Video Thread

Let's see 'em! Post your trail pix and videos.

A trip in the Spring Mountains few folks seem to know about. Trailhead is exactly 5.0 miles west of the Lovell Canyon Road turnoff of Nevada highway 160 and finishes at the the group campground in Lovell Canyon. To run from the group campground, you will need lockers to make it up the loose surface Drop-Off.

Perfect Day

Unbelievably nice day and we didn't see another soul on the trip. Out with three Jeeps from Vegas for the first time. Started in Pahrump, headed towards Wheeler Pass, but turned southeast and headed to Wallace Canyon, then to Carpenter Canyon and back to Pahrump. 43 miles total. Not difficult but very scenic!

Great pics! My father and I wandered up through wheeler pass earlier this year on a whim when the other group didn't show up for shooting. I snapped a few pics along the way..

Edit: wow.. Pics don't look nearly as sharp and clear after uploading them, sorry

LOL, I think that's mandatory... Plus I learned my rock sliders make great steps for getting up to apply our race team stickers to the sign!

We passed the west end of the ET at highway 6 today and the sign has been replaced by an open range warning sign. The shot I took above was immediately after the highway department placed a new sign close to 10 years ago. We were told then it's a popular item for theft.

Okay, USFS Roads 539 and 538 off of NV 160. These are the next valley to the west of Lovell Canyon and meet up with it on the north end.

Near the start (just north of NV 160):

Petroglyphs near Lost Cabin Spring. These were unique in that many of them were essentially engraved versus just etched (many had deep grooves) and they were also not on steeply rising terrain or canyon walls.

Just before lunch--probably somewhere around 5000' MSL as you can see by the vegetation / ecosystem changing.

Lunch at about 5800' MSL--this is a rather well preserved old homestead (you can see the mud wall house on the right side of the pic).

Continuing on towards "The Drop". We eventually get to some tight ridgeline driving.

Brian at the bottom of The Drop. It doesn't look it (never does), but that bit on the left side of the photo is some rather serious incline. Coming UP that could get interesting if spinning started in earnest...because brakes would have an issue holding most. Fun.

The Drop--first video is from the top of me videoing Jim and second is his videoing me from the bottom.
