I've been keeping an eye out for a black XDs .45, now wondering if I should look for either or; a black one or bitone (black and stainless) one. Having never owned a stainless cc firearm, are there any pros or cons over the standard black?

Which of the two would you get and why?

Stainless is shiny, and thus more visible, but more durable. Bluing will wear quite quickly, so you cannot care about messing up the finish on a carry weapon. I carry blue/black and don't worry about the finish wearing.

You will get more shown wear on a blue gun, but you can always get it re-coated to whatever color/finish you want. Holster wear doesn't bother me, mostly because I don't carry a super expensive, rare gun. An XDs is neither I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Hmm.. I hadn't really thought much about wear, I figured anything carried would get pretty worn over the course of time.

Stainless will also cost you more at purchase...

If that's true, I can only imagine that the resale value is slightly higher on the bitone should I ever decide to resale it.. It'll be worth at LEAST a dollar more right?

Went out shooting with the boss man this morning. Don't think he likes being shown up by me but meh whatever.

Finally put some rounds through my Kahr. It is ****ing butter. I am happy with it as my EDC gun and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to damn near anyone. I put about 100 rounds through it with no failures of any kind. The trigger is smooth as silk but it does take some getting used to because the reset is damn near invisible. I took my finger off the trigger multiple times looking for the reset point. You just can't really feel it.

Bonez did you get an XDs? I'm kinda stuck with getting a new carry gun. I like the stopping power of a .45 but the ease of carrying a .380 is undeniable.

Which Kahr? The ones I shot have been smooth shooting for small guns.

Nope, still lurking about waiting for the right deal to pop up. You are right though, it's not an especially easy weapon to conceal.

There is a nice little .380 over on NS right now, but I don't want another caliber to buy + after reading about that chick in FL that nailed that guy like 6 times in the face with a .380 and he still walked away I wasn't impressed with that caliber either.
