I've heard it's really not worth it to get certified. It's expensive for the class, it's difficult to pass, and it's not very profitable for the techs?

You have to pass smog then bring your certificate to the Nv Smog lab behind the DMV on Sahara. They stick a sniffer in your exhaust to certify the smog. After that you just fill out the classic vehicle form and go to the DMV with that and your certified smog certificate. Not hard at all. Every year they send your renewal you have to have to fill out the paper again and have it notarized saying you haven't driven more that 5000 miles and send it in and no smog is required unless you go over the 5000. Even if you do go over they never actually look at your speedo.

Can you apply if you have a lift and oversized tires? Was thinking of registering my 88 as a classic just for fun

True on all, but at our office you get $2 more an hour for having it even if its only used 2-3 times a month.
