I just started a rebuild of a 5.2 out of a Dakota. And by just started, I mean that I successfully removed the engine, which was running moments before, from a 1997 Dodge Dakota and the engine is now sitting on a cherry picker inside my garage with the wiring harness and exhaust manifolds removed. I got this done yesterday. I would like to get it torn down and if I'm really lucky, to the machine shop by next Tuesday afternoon. Probably not going to happen, but we'll see..

The most important thing I can suggest on motor tear downs is to be sure to mark the block and main caps BEFORE disassembly! Just use numbered stamps or even a center punch to number the caps AND their corresponding location on the block. It DOES matter, and it will be a serious PITA to figure out later. Also, I would not reuse the cam I the motor has over 50k on it. Replace valve train parts...it's piece of mind and not really that expensive...relatively speaking. Make sure you get your new cam degreed correctly when installing timing set. Like Merrick said, a manual with torque specs and tightening order is invaluable. Other than that, use tons of assembly lube and take your time, don't rush anything!

Does anyone on here know how to write iPhone apps? I have an idea for one, but know nothing about programming and would like to figure out how to create it and get it in the app store. I've searched the app store and found nothing that does what my idea would do.

It's been a long time dmgiff. Let me know how much trouble that 5.2 turns out to be. I've got to do the same thing but I don't have the time or cash right now. My wife's bar prep was $3000 and the bar will be like another $1000. I also need to buy some tools to replace what I'm missing to do the build.
