Here is a stope (area opened to remove an ore vein) we came across on our way back that was above us. We figured we were probably just a few feet below where we were parked. This large air pocket was our rest spot for about an hour.

Itís an odd feeling to be underwater shutting down and removing gear. The air wasnít stale at all. I thought it strange that the air smelled like vanilla. I seriously thought I was having another stroke. Then I remembered everyone using sunscreen before we suited up. Not because weíd be seeing a lot of sun, but because the suits are easier to get on and off with a little lubrication.

If you look closely, you can see boot prints from miners as if they walked across that floor today.

It's amazing to think that people mined underwater a hundred years ago and didn't even have near the technology you guys had.

Last picture for now. This trip completely kicked my as s. I was shivering at least another 10 minutes even at the surface in the sun.

Most of us went two dives and, with the break, spent about two hours underwater. Those familiar with diving will know that an hour diving takes a lot out of you. The three with rebreathers spent close to four hours underwater. We started to worry about them after the third hour, but everyone made it out well.

The only issue was one of the women folk getting cut on glass in the water and my nose started bleeding at about 80 feet. I thought it was something on my mask and was trying to rub it away. I kept purging the blood out of my mask until it stopped. It was kinda gross. Good thing there arenít sharks there.

It was a good day.

One of the wives asked, "What made them want to mine down there?".

She's really hot, so it's tolerated.

YSB those pictures are awesome, I don't even like walking into mine shafts let alone swimming into mine shafts under millions of tons of water and rock!

Let's see some pics of some monster fish down there!

The difference between stupidity and ignorance. Ignorance is doing something wrong and not knowing better. Stupidity is knowing better, but doing it anyway. Don't be stupid!

Bunnies are often mistaken for hobbitses
