I am willing to bet that they never checked their tire pressure. With the temps getting higher the tire pressure will go up. I check mine weekly and I was surprised to find them at 44psi, up from 37psi in one week.

On one of my trips from Texas to Colorado for snowboarding, the tires in my jetta started to tear on the tread, I felt it going in made it to the first town. I pulled into Sam's club in Pueblo and got 4 tires. The tech paged me while I was in the store and asked why I was getting tires, the tread looks great. I asked him to check out the right rear on the tread... then I calmly said I do not trust the other 3. Nothing like driving 12 hours to go snowboarding for a day and a half, only to spend a few hours of your trip getting tires.

Any of you slack asses want/need a futon. It is a gray metal frame with a black mattress. I also have a gray cover to go with it.

I don't want bigger tires. What I have is perfect for the trails I like.

I've even thought of dropping from 31's to 30's.

I wonder if you would be better off doing a trans swap like sirhk did. Auto to five or six speed. At least it would be easier to stay in the power band. Have to remember, that 4 cyl doesn't make much power and wasn't really designed for hills and off road use. It was more of a snowy climate grocery getter, IMO. Could also look at turbo kits too, but unfortunately, it's just a bad combo for what you use it for. I would honestly look at if it would be advantageous to just sell it private party and then get something like a Cherokee or wrangler with the 4.0. I would recommend a manual, but that's up to you. I'm sure you could probably squeeze 4k or so out of yours, plus your intended thousand for gears, you can find a relatively decent wrangler or Cherokee in that range.

I just found out I have Monday off. I wouldn't mind going out wheeling or shooting if anyone is down. If not I may do some work on the jeep. I've got new arms to replace the mangled ones I have on it now. It will be nice not having DW once I get it going again.

That's going the wrong way...it would bog down even more the bigger they get. He would need smaller tires for the desired effect. That's why guy with 35" tires run 4.56 or higher gears, to bring the rpm back up.

Not really sure what started this, but most days, I'm happy with my Jeep. I only have issues with it on uphill highway climbs. In all other areas, including off road, nobody can tell what's under the hood. I can't tell you how many times people tell me I drive too fast. Nothing wrong with my Jeep. I know not to expects A's from a C student.

Yes Nitrogen is not as pressure/altitude sensitive as using normal air. It just sucks when you do have to adjust the pressure unless you get a tank. unless they perform a vacuum on the tire (Which would blow the bead) or seat the bead of the tire with nitrogen, you will only get a partial nitrogen blend. For 5 bucks it is not bad at all.

Supposedly mine came with nitrogen on it... tried charging something like $250 for it. But my pressures have been all over the place, so unless the dealer was just trying to sell some snake oil it is bs.

Here's the thing, I really don't care about trails. I don't care about climbing rocks or anything else. Sure, I would love it if it was more capable and comfortable, but in the end, all I care about is where my Jeep gets me.
