That's another thing. The bar pins were just rolled sheet metal. I thought that was stupid too, but it seems that's how almost all of them are made.
I paid around 310 for my Bilsteins and they have been great so far.

Oh yeah? Well, I paid over $400 for my Rancho's and two have been replaced in under three months. I win.

Daaaaaamn! I thought they were like 150 or so. I was going to say you may want to spend a little more and upgrade. Doestech are great inexpensive shocks but a little on the firmer side.

Ditto ... I think I paid $320 or so ... love, love, love my Bilsteins. Of course, they aren't adjustable like YSB's fancy Ranchos ...

On the softest settings, mine feel great on washboard. I can hit speeds over 40 MPH with relative comfort. Softest setting on uneven trail sometimes feels like it'll flip. On road, I haven't been able to find a good balance yet. 1 is way too soft with excessive body roll. 9 feels like my axle might be welded to the frame. Sometimes, 3 feels about right for the road, but speed bumps are jarring.

I should have bought the shocks when Rancho was giving away the remote adjusters.

They have a warranty and I can't return them. Other shocks won't do me any good.

Was actually thinking of selling the Jeep and getting something else anyway.

Btw, your sustained 40mph driving over washboard roads are more than likely the cause of your premature shock failure. They are probably overheating and failing; if you were to get some decent remote reservoir shocks you most likely would not have the issue. I am sure Khris (our local shock expert) would be able to provide some additional insight to this
