I was just out there 2 sundays ago, I did searchlight to nipton thru the desert with the desert wranglers. Pretty fun, great hamburger joint in nipton. What is supposed to be at those coordinates?

Could you post or PM the coords? We were just out there exploring around Ivanpah. We might even be out there again tomorrow.

n35.285827 w115.68463. It just shows dirt road on my map app, but I know the area, weve driven through it on our way to my uncles house

Interesting. I don't see much out there. We'll be west of there possibly tomorrow checking out the War Eagle mine.

Do all the Mojave stickers have the same coords? If they do, it's very convenient that you live so close. It would suck if you lived somewhere east coast.

If you're talking about the mojave road, it starts in Barstow and runs all the way to laughlin in the dirt. We did it last year...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojave_Road

I've got the entire route on .gpx file if someone wanted it.

I've got pictures from when I did it but they're not uploaded. These are some pictures from some friends that just did it again a few weeks ago though.

merrick, here's that tube I was talking about going to check out this past weekend that I obviously never made it to.

Since I know you guys will ask... These lava tubes are located RIGHT HERE at the end of this hiking path. It's a couple hundred yard hike off the dirt road to them and there's a metal ladder to access down into them.

I actually am pretty bummed I missed the run a few weeks ago. We had a good time on it last year but we blasted all the way thru in a day and didn't do any of the side runs that they did this year.

Okay, I lied, here's some pictures from our run on it last year.

Waiting for my transmission to cool down...

The bridge pictured below... (different then the one above)

To get an idea, this rock pile pictured below is right here on google maps...

I added some google maps links in both the posts above if you didn't catch them. I only needed 4wd on one short climb and in the wash leading out of barstow which is bypassable... Next time I'd probably do it in my truck to be honest with you.

This summer, I actually would like to spend some time up in Pioche, Panaca, Cathedral Gorge & Caliente. Great spots to escape on weekends. Much cooler temps and all old gold mining country with lots of **** up there to check out supposedly. I've only been up there on dirt bikes and raced up there so I wasn't exactly sight seeing.

This guy is a prime example of why gun enthusiasts have a bad rep. Anyone can grasp a simple concept and constantly repeat themselves in an attempt to get a rise out of others. But to win someone's confidence and support, you need to be an effective communicator which is inclusive of listening and responding appropriately instead of beating a few words into meaninglessness. Then you need to be able to effectively articulate yourself in a manner in which your audience can understand and respond to. Does he have a valid point? Yes. Did he look & act like a complete tool in the process of trying to make that point? Absolutely.

Those cops are also a prime example of why many struggle to support law enforcement, they should be aware of the laws they uphold; particularly when dealing with the referenced "gun nuts" all over the country; if they are that aware of the problem, they should be fully prepared (not just tactically). If they can't respond with intelligence they should focus on de-escalating the situation instead of attempting to threaten/bully the situation to a peaceable resolution.

I take the side of the disgusted gun totin, law respectin, NRA card carryin, person that spent 8 minutes of his time being reminded that idiots come in all forms.

Let's assume the law is 100% on the side of crazy dude. I was still hoping the cops would flip out batons and thump on him for a while.

If the cops hadn't stopped him to check him out an then he went on a shooting rampage, the public would have asked "why wasn't he questioned? Why wasn't he checked out?" can't have it both ways.
