I figured since the other thread started out as talking about making a club, and what clubs are available, we should have a thread that's just dedicated to setting up trail runs.
The title says it all, and it'll be less cluttered.
So, the 9/18/10 Run to Potato Ridge was a success!
Next item on the schedule is Logandale on 10/23/10 according to McRoberts. Seems like we have a few interested parties! Who all is planning to attend?
If there is anything in the meantime, or someone local wants another rig to ride with them, just post up and see if anyone is available!
LOL, the shop cars we use to run errands in!!! We actually just sold the challenger to a guy in germany though. It was an '07 SRT8 with a supercharger with a whole whooping 4000 miles on it!
smiiile... best way to start this conversation would honestly be... What's your budget? Toss out a realistic number you're willing to spend and that will make the suggestions much more legit. It doesn't have to be spent all at once and can be slowly built over time but if you have a number of how much you're willing to dump into it, that helps you get an end vision and plan to work towards with it. In the end it's your jeep so style it how you want. There's no right or wrong! To be 100% honest and not joking...
But I could be completely wrong and they might not sell worth a damn! LOL Point being, it's all personal opinion.
Ok good point I guess over the next year I'd be willing to put about $1500 into it.
I know big tires would change the look but I'm reluctant to do that... I'm a whooping 5' 1" and this is my daily driver. I work a professional job and - I wear a skirt everyday to work and really can't be slinging my leg up into my Jeep.
It's a wrangler sport. not rubicon, I'm just not that much of an off roader
I was thinking of something on the front to change the look of the bumper, push bar or brush guard, etc
My old Jeep drove like a Jeep, sounded like a Jeep, looked like a Jeep.... I feel like this isn't a Jeep it's too quiet and comfortable - after this weekend I'll put the soft top on and I hope some wind noise will make me feel more at home
well with a 1500 budget, you can get some stuff. But nothing too huge.
I would say to follow craigslist for some Rubicon take off wheels (set of 5 around $800) This will give you a more aggressive tire and different rim.
I am not saying order from quadratec... They have a warehouse in Reno, so you pay tax and shipping. But get some lights, a light bar across the top looks nice sometimes, but you have to consider parking garage clearance @ the casino's and your garage if you park. but a set of windshield lights and maybe even a bar for the bumper something like this will work with the factory bumper.
or without the bar
on the windshield
You can also look into getting some rock sliders, they will help prevent door dings if nothing else since you will not be off roading very much
Here you go, want a JK dash in cad on your computer? LOL I used that to make a badass flip up GPS holder that replaced the panel right above the stereo. Too many people got involved though trying to design by commity and it ended up having everything and the kitchen sink it seemed and in the end went no where. But still i like this cad of the dash. LOL You can see the pop up dealio in place sort of on top of the dash. That was mid design and not the final product, it closed down flat to match the curved profile.
I'll take one for the jk if the price is right. I was actually looking at a brand new factory chrome one on craigslist. The guy wants $50 for it, I could sand it down and paint it flat black
Already nailed it a few posts earlier IMO... Budget boost lift of like 1.5" and watch craigslist for some take off rubicon wheels and tires. You then can sell yours on craigs to offest a little of the cost. The skirt issue shouldn't be too much different with that little bit of lift. We have a chick here at work that's all of like 5 foot nothing driving a chevy avalanche on 35 or 37" wheels. It's HUGE... It's comical watching her getting in and out of it but she's got the routine figured out.
And you can find the smittybuilt XRC8 winches for about $300.
That would put you with a little lift, more aggressive tire, more aggressive front end, ability to get yourself unstuck, etc... you could pickup a cheap set of offroad lights for $100 and probably drill some holes to mount them on the bumper or just simply weld a set of tabs off the bumper for them. With anything left over you could do the rocksliders like mentioned previously too. There's a lot of different styles for $250 and up to choose from.
For the JK's dash all we have is some aluminum trim stuff. We've got like the stick on aluminum trim rings around the vent bezels, a billet grab bar to replace the plastic one on the pass side above the dash, billet trim pieces around the shifters and cup holders, billet shift knobs, etc...
We will have that fuel door available for JK and TJ. I'm sure if people were interested I could do a one time sort of purchase at employee cost for the fuel doors once they come in. On the TJ's it's just a cover like all the other ones on the market. On the JK it replaces the entire plastic cup in the fuel area. I don't know pricing or ETA right now but they are in production so I would guess we'd see them within a month or two at the most. I won't actually post up the price I would be able to get the doors at on here but when we get them in I'll let you guys know, get a head count of who's interested and then PM you guys with price. Trust me though, it'll probably be substantially cheaper then any other fuel door on the market at my price... BTW, if for somehow some reason someone from outside of Vegas is reading this... Unless you're coming to my house to pickup the part or meeting me in town somewhere convenient this deal won't apply to you...
I'm just the designer... I've tried pushing for XJ and ZJ parts but the sales guys or well, no that's a lie, head sales guy, that is the jeep "GURU" doesn't think there's a market for it. Yet that guru drives around in a very nice JK that's heavily built that's been in the dirt twice ever. Total wanna be!
If I didn't already have my TJ, I would seriously be heading out to San Diego today to pick this up! Read the details, this is a very badass ride!
I know we're still days away but... I "think" I might actually have a relatively open weekend coming up!!! I've got my parents rolling into town next Tuesday so I need to do some chores and errands cause even at 34y/o I still fear the wrath of mom if the house isn't decent! LOL But if this weather (without the wind) stays around I'd like to maybe get a half day run in Sat or Sun. I don't necessarily want to break the jeep but I'd like to actually have to use 4WL and have some challenges. I've got some ideas down in the nelson hills area but the trial I have in mind I honestly don't know if I can do it without a locker. It's got 3 pretty decent waterfalls to climb but the area is amazing and it's littered with mines to explore. Might be a total bust though trail wise but even if we couldn't get thru it, there's lots of others to go wonder around on probably. I'd be a bad leader though cause I really would just be wondering aimlessly... LOL Anyways, I'll be watching for any half day runs you guys possibly are considering this weekend and really want to get out there!
I have always like the old CJ's. That thing looks ready to roll right out of the box assuming the motor and trans are in great shape. Nice price as well.
Yeah, exactly!!! If the motor and trans were in decent shape that's a very well built jeep for the price! No way you could put that thing together for what he's selling it at even if you did all the labor yourself! ARB's, on board air, that suspension, 4:1, etc... Add up the accessories list alone and you're probably getting the jeep and the labor to install all the stuff for free! LOL
