Agreed! There's this black stuff from 3M and it looks like its got metal flake in it, and it seals perfect. I've used it on two trans pans and an oil pan. I'd buy a gun tube of it if I could, it's awesome.

So what you are saying is that the non hardening, if it gets into the trans, just gets dissolved and doesn't hurt anything? You are not afraid of it getting on the clutches?

It didn't leak before I had that over heat on wheeler. I would assume that the heat= more pressure could have damaged the gasket or even warped the pan. What brand of silicon do you use?

It's the consistence of thick silicone sealer, and it gets thicker as it "dries" but it never fully hardens like caulking does. It's a little softer when it's done "curing or hardening" or whatever it does.

That sucks! I had an ant drop into my eyeball one time while trimming tree branches, could feel it climbing around in there, totally did the conniption fit dance on one leg for a while.

So, I was thinking of heading down some mines today, but instead headed to Red Rock to make myself useful with the search. There doesn't seem to be any organization in the recovery. All it seems like is people saying where they searched and it ends up being the same areas searched over and over.

I get out of my Jeep and start checking all my climbing gear. Some hippy comes over and asks if I came alone. I told him I did and he says, "We don't allow anyone to search alone.". I was annoyed that anyone was telling me how to spend my day and told him, "I'm here to climb.".

He then said, "Oh, that's great then. We have a family here that needs someone to show them where to search, would you mind?". They were already there in front of me, so I said I was fine with that. My intention was to show them a good, safe area to search and go on about my climbing somewhere else.

On the hike there, they seemed like good people. I just couldn't understand why anyone would bring their kids to search for a body. I vividly remember seeing my first dead body at age 5 and something like that sticks in your memory.

Didn't find Ron Kirk. I didn't even find the faintest scent of decomp. I did find some cool misc. climbing gear.

How is that ground different from another? What about if you grounded it to neg battery terminal?

I tried grounding it to where the battery grounds on the frame and that didn't work. I have no idea. Aren't they using dogs to search? I would have told that hippie "A ss, cash, or grass, I don't teach for free!"

it drives and stops!!!

All thats left to do before it goes back on the road is final brake adjustment and trying to fix the gas gauge.

WOOOO!

I didnt notice if it stops any better or worse than before really, but the pedal is firm and it comes to a stop?

I finished the springs, adjusted the shoes, then bled all wheels again in the right order, then took it for a spin!

Look, all wrapped up and no more stitches!

I'm wondering if the engine ground has a different signal from the others. Like maybe a pulsed signal.

For your trans pan leak, try Ultra Black by Permatex instead of the gasket. Been using it for a while and never had a leak. It's also forgiving if there are imperfections with your pan. I usually, get the bead on, get the bolts finger tight. After an hour, I torque them down. Hasn't failed me yet.

You shouldn't and shouldn't have to use rtv on a trans pan

Just saw you had a fight with a bee. Damn, Marn! You really should wear a helmet so you don't hurt yourself. Maybe mittens so you won't hurt anyone else.
