If a shipper just charged the cost of gas they would lose money. They pay for gas, maintenance and time. I'm sure you know that. Then you have to think about whether or not they are taking anything else at the same time or if they have a return load lined up. I know shipping wouldn't be $2000 but the last I heard for a price on shipping across country was $1500 for a car.

I get it, but I look at it this way. You have a 3 car hauler or big in closed trailer. You set up stuff so you can have at least 3 loads out and 3 loads back. At their rate its about 5k round trip for less than a weeks worth of work.

If you are a small shipper with a 3 car hauler the chances of you having a full load both ways is slim.

Sounds like you just found yourself a badass new job if it's so amazing! $5000 x 52week= $260,000... Sign up! You can buy a house with cash after your first year it sounds like if it's such a lucrative gig for the drivers and rip off for the customers like you say it is...

I would imagine insurance costs to operate that type of business are insane.

I think the major reason insurance would be expensive is the number of miles traveled. Liability coverage gets huge when you mix long hours and high mileage

I would think that the insurance to cover a damaged delivery could be insane depending on what you are delivering. Could you imagine getting in an accident and damaging a 6 figure + car.

Having money in your pocket and thinking about buying an expensive toy isn't as cool as you'd think!!! In the last few days a couple amazing trucks for dirt cheap have popped up that are really swaying my thoughts!

It's got an oddfire nascar V6 putting down almost 500hp for DIRT CHEAP!!! Like almost what I sold mine for!!!

Or there's this one with a 351 and street plates for not much more then what I sold mine for also...

If I was looking to actually hands on build another truck from the ground up, I'd seriously consider that same era Ford to be 100% honest. But I'm looking for something a bit further along with a final budget of up to about 5 times that amount. BTW, that truck has bad karma anyways, the paint job is blasphemy and nobody in their right mind would EVER paint anything other then a ford with the rough riders paint scheme!

Sooo did you put that ford on the back burner for good? Is that white truck a better truck than the ford you wanted?
