I'm trying to find my younger brother (16 years old) a cheap vehicle. This needs some work, but my brother only has to drive five miles a day and this could be a nice toy on the weekends for him.

Hopefully this isn't someone's on the forum, but I think the vehicle is worth about half the asking price? Given the risk factor in having to fix it up. I was going to make an offer but I'm wondering if I should just pass altogether.
Did you end up checking that YJ out? This one might be worth a look too

6k for a stock YJ is crazy. Maybe if it had a fuel injected v8

Why anyone would buy a YJ over a TJ for what you can pick them up for these days is beyond me.

Me likes them YJ's. Well......after you modify the pee out of them.

BTW: Are you planning on being in JV prior to Turkey Day?

Mike & I are hoping to get there early on Friday the week prior if at all possible.

I like a VJ that is clean, has a good record, and only needs a few things massaged out a few times a week.

I didn't check it out.
I am actually considering these: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/4151336292.html
http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/4121035788.html

I am considering selling my 2010 Rubicon and my 2008 Mazda3 together to get some money back towards school and then I would pick myself up a YJ (or a TJ) as a dedicated trail toy and a pickup truck like a Tacoma or something as my daily driver.

I'm not really sure what I should do. The Rubicon was actually my fathers and I inherited the title but I do not want to own two *new* vehicles and I don't want to daily drive the Rubicon. Like all Jeeps, it has held its value tremendously well and I am thinking about selling it before I destroy it on a trail.

People have already told me I'm being a brat for wanting to sell such a nice truck, but I can't justify wheeling a $25k Jeep while I'm still paying my way through school and taking care of my younger brother.

Any advice? Sorry, my thoughts are kind of scattered.

Why not something like an XJ for double duty? 33's with 4.56 gears and all the necessary trail accessories.

I would never pay over 3k for a YJ unless its got a LS and one tons.
I picked up my current TJ for 4k cash. 4.0 auto Dana 44, 33's. (I find good deals though)

I would love a TJ, it's what I originally wanted when I was in high school. I don't mind YJ's though, I think they're really cool. I'll try keep an eye out for a deal like yours but, from the market, it seems like you got really lucky. The nice TJ's I've been seeing are all closer to $8000+
I definitely want to keep the price down on it near $5000 because I will definitely have to buy something else. I do not want to use a wrangler as my daily driver.

And as for XJ's, I think I'm just more of a Wrangler guy. There's something about taking the top off that I would miss too much.

ONLY thing I miss about jeeps is the removable top. I was the type that would only have the top on maybe a week out of the year total... Other then that, I've got no regrets...

Andy!!!! Get a friggen vehicle and bring me an open checkbook to work with! I wanna try something... Check out this hoopty!!!

Not only can it do this...

Fricken rear end is working!!!
