We can pick a place to meet up prior to heading out or whatever. I am going to try and contact some local guys that know the area better than myself (i've only been once). I prefer to enter from the Pahrump side and exit the Red Rock/215 side. Or if you guys know anyone else that wants to go, let them know.

Sounds good and i also know that area well. What time are the meetup?

Thats more than me!

funny you mention the wife driving the JK. Dani (my girl whom you met) said to me "when we have a family you need to drive something like THAT jeep" after she saw your 4 door.

I was all "sounds like a plan to me!"

It's whenever for me. Are you headed to the DMV Sat. morning too or? I guess we need to see when Chris '92 vegas YJ is going and to which DMV....I'm not too far from the one on West Flamingo.

I know most guys meet up at that gas station/McDonalds at Blue Diamond and Rainbow to get breakfast/food/gas ect...

And I'm glad your bringing the TJ lol....."THAT" conversation happens all the time with me and my fiance'. She is always saying I should sell my LJ and get a new JK unlimited, but she doesn't realize what it would cost to build one like I would...and I'm a minimum 37" tire guy for a Jeep lol. The JK would have me buying 40"s probably before I did anything to it. ......with that said, only a couple of things have stopped me. One is that I am partial to my LJ I guess because I feel one day they will be rare. Another is the fact that the way mine is built it flat out just works, but mostly I have not heard one good thing about the engine in the JK's. 2 friends of mine had to have completely new engines swapped (under warranty) back in TX. I know a guy here that blew the engine with like 18K on it, and I seem to hear a lot of electrical issues. Maybe I am only seeing the negative, but it's not worth me giving up the 4.0 yet.

I havent been around here in awhile. Unfortunately, I wont make it this weekend. Im trying to sell my Jeep. I need more room. Ive been looking at trucks (from Rams to Tacomas), SUVs like Tahoes and Rovers, and whatever else. But I keep coming back to the JK Unlimited. I just cant get that out of my mind. Easier to lift and put larger tires/wheels under it, etc. But my plan is to do a mild build, nothing big. Just a trail rig (to go to the lake or whatever). Im pretty much done (for now.....) with rock crawling.

Just got back in. Ended up just being Chris ('92 vegas YJ) and myself. Yes it was very windy and cold lol. We aired down and hit the trail. Chris got to try out his winch a few times rocks just kept finding their way right where you don't want them. All in all we had a blast. I'll let him tell you what he did to his oil pan, drag link...ect..

Couple shots I got

ill get some pics up once i get them off of rob.

the whole oil pan thing is easy to explain. i never really liked that oil pan plus i needed to do an oil change anyway. i figure im halfway done already. my oil pan looks like i took a 40lb sledge to it. wouldnt be so bad if i didnt rip that hole in it and lose all my oil and have to have you tow me all the way out of the trail and down charleston blvd to Red Rock casino.

the drag link must have just got caught up on one of the 5000 rocks i got stuck on.

all in all it was a great day. taught me a lot about what i need to change on my rig and made me envy yours. haha

Its good to hear that you had some fun Chris.

Next time out....hook-up and route the winch remote control prior to starting the trail. That way, you KNOW you won't need to use it.
