I need to get some advice on something.

When I had my OX lockers installed I didn't have cable lengths yet so I had the shop order the "drive away" adaptors so I wasn't driving around with an open hole in my diff covers. Last night I went to manually lock my back diff for tonight’s run and I discovered that the guys at 4WD had installed them in the locked position instead of the open diff position. Why on earth they thought I wanted to drive around town with locked diffs is beyond me.

So my question is did driving around town for 500 miles with locked diffs do any damage I should check for? I got her up to 45 to 55 mph a number of times on city streets and was on the highway a couple times going even faster. Let me know what you all think.

Not an expert in lockers by any means here is what I would think. If you had driven around for 500 miles locked and didn't know it I would think no damage had been done. You could always check the diff fluid for metal shavings to be sure. My ignorant opinion would say you're fine.

My question would be ARE they working if you DIDN'T notice them? Locked up it would act as a spool and if you never heard the tires screetch on a turn, something seems suspect!

Did they have the spring installed or not?

I heard the tires screeching some on tight turns but not as much as I would expect. I'll jack it up and check again tonight before I leave. They were supposed to do a full installation. I've got to get the cables order and pull the covers. It's time for the break in fluid flush.

Well, if you pulled the drive-away locks and there was no spring in there, then they were unlocked....spring in = locked. If they just put a plug in the hole, then you were never locked and payed for D-A locks that aren't there??

One thing...how much air pressure do you run in your tires? That could be the difference in hearing a lot or a little screeching.

I run 27 to 28 lbs. I pulled one of the locks last night and I did not find a spring but it was screwed most of the way in. I'm going to look them up see if there is a part missing.

I looked it up. They did not install the Springs but they also did not give them to me. @!$!#%!%! 4WD parts, I really wish Adams would have been willing to do the work for me. The things are screwed in like they are locked but without the spring they aren't doing anything.

Yep, you will need the springs if you want to correctly engage the locker.

Anyone have a set of 31, 32, or 33s I could borrow for a month or so until I can order a couple matching tires? My new 45 mile commute doesn't like my mismatched front tire. Posted from outer space.

Get Greg to let you into my garage. I have a set of either 31s or 32s (I don't recall which) along the right side wall.
