Over the windshield functions fine in a race truck without a windshield and a darker colored hood but I can promise you, 99% of the fabtech lifted trucks around town with their light bars don't actually have them for use.

I tried it up top but mounted further back and it looks lame... The spot it did look decent was against the front cross bar on my roof rack but back there, the light output was blocked quite a bit by the roof line.

As long as I don't use my bumper as an actual push bar I'll be fine and it would be the same as any other lights I bolted up there without doing a custom bumper. I'm sure if I wreck it, the light bar at our cost will be the least of my concerns and I highly doubt I'll ever hit anything in the dirt with it there.
I have never installed any lights above or around my windshield for that exact same reason, but when I see so many of the offroad racing vehicles (including your light rack with those big round lights in it) I thought that maybe I was just overreacting. I think your mounting location should be decent, but bumpers in the rocks tend to take a lot of abuse so that's why I was curious

I completely understand, I was just giving you a hard time. I didn't have any choice when it came to driving my rig with zero brakes else I would have had it towed. I was sweating it the whole way and driving super slow.

The higher up the light the more it's going to shine down and fill in the holes which are black at night so that's nice... But if it's pure glare that kinda sucks... In the race trucks, we don't have a windshield to worry about the glare on.

And My expo was never meant to be a KOH rig. Just a fun all around go anywhere I'd ever likely wanna go in comfort with a bit of speed for a good price. I'm still sitting right in the $8K range for this thing and with that said, look at the two lines here... If I REMOTELY think I'm going to climb anything that the light would contact, I made a HUGE miscalculation. Especially since the bottom of the light sits above my 35" tire off the ground.

Not to mention that at that point, you have much bigger problems to worry about than just the light. You would likely be taking out the steering swinger, T-Case, and just about every other hard part under the rig. In short*, we would have to start calling you Puck.

*Albeit, taller than I.

It wouldn't hurt me feelings to take out the t-case though! LOL I'll admit, where I screwed up on this build... Other exploders I've owned were all autos and the low range was fine. This being my first manual exploder, the low range isn't low enough. So if I took out the t-case, the Atlas purchase that is on my list as soon as I know if I'm shuffling trucks or not would happen immediately instead of waiting to see what's up with the whole prerunner deal.
