Ok, maybe that joke was taken a little too far. I need to recalibrate my boundaries.

So just went out and took the grinder with a flapper wheel to my ground point and made sure it was bare. No difference. If I set the gain at all past 1/4 it just dies on it's face.

Any idea what the voltage at the rca's should be? I'm guessing just check between the center peg and the outside surface right?

When it's set low it has a really nice sound and tone. Deep rumble on a long bass note. But just the tiniest turn of the gain and it just turns to static garbage basically. It should handle more then what it's doing for sure! If it doesn't infinity would have a crap load of pissed off customers for sure and I've heard nothing but good about these things.

Also, more power (turning gain control up) isn't always better. Some of the best sounding sound systems I've heard never had the gain control up over a quarter. It all depends on the ohm's and the componants. I prefer quality over volume.

Here's how I adjust my gain control. I set the volume to just above daily listening. Start the gain at the bottom and slowly raise until it distorts, then back it off until it's clean. Then, I turn the volume up just past loud comfortable until distorts. Then, back it off until clean again. All set.

That's the issue... It starts cutting out just before it really starts to get audible. I'm not looking for a booming system, I just want to be able to hear a good drum beat and right when it starts to get there it falls on it's face like a light switch basically. Sounds perfect, just a tiny bit more. NOPE!!!

I've never had an issue like this. My gut feeling is there's something wrong with the basslink. One night this week I'll hook it up to the wiring in my truck and see if it does it in there.

Oh and did burro wash today. Pretty scenic but a bit jittery for my tastes. Not enough technical and not enough smooth, just endless baseball sized rocks to rattle everything to death! LOL The very first climb out of the river canyon when heading back would be the only challenge in my yota. I want to take it down there sometime when there's another vehicle with a tow strap to give me a tug up just in case...

Burro Wash is pretty nice durring the summer. Except when you are in the middle of doing the nasty and some dude on a boat wants to fish in the little cove. And you have to sit there in the cold water and smile while thinkings... dang this water is getting cold and all of my clothes are at the jeep.

On a second note, if you want to test out my basslink to see if there is something wrong with yours just let me know. I have no need for it but I am just too lazy to sell it.

I'd be less worried about the fisherman and more worried about the hooks.

That's a South Park episode, yes? I think the one where they get trapped by the time share sales people.

You know who's a jerk? Me! Today is my 11 year anniversary and I totally forgot. So, to not look like a total shythead, I pretended to remember and gave her her Christmas gift for our anniversary. Now, I'm screwed because I need to get her something for Christmas and I'm all out of ideas.

Got a Dr's appointment in half an hour, then we're heading south to do some exploring. Happy Monday, men!

What was your game? I can't get into gambling, but I enjoy playing poker. The difference is gambling is chance. Poker is a game of skill. Unlike any other casino game, you don't even have to have the best hand. Everyone else just has to think you do.

We'll be heading south into CA in about an hour. We were out yesterday, but I was having some hand strength issues and it wouldn't have been safe for me to grip rope. I'm feeling a little better today, so we're going to give it a try. Hopefully, we can find something to get into.

I have a question about things I find out there. Let's say I find some mining artifacts or even fossils. If there is no active claim on the property and it's currently maintained by the BLM, can I legally remove small items? Nothing like winches or ore trams. Just little things like non-precious ores and fossils.
