Don't have a lot of experience with gear swaps in these Jeeps so here it is. Want to regear a 92 Dana 30 from 3:73 to 4:88. Just need to know that the carrier will handle it. Looked in search under Dana 30 and there is a ton of info but can't answer the question. I am trying to build a spare axle for my 89 2.5L with 4:10s currently.

Just need to know before I buy the spare axle, Thanks

If no one on here can answer (or their answers are so technically confusing that they don't actually answer the question), I would call Adam's Driveshaft and ask them, they would know, they are always super helpful, even if you do not buy anything from them.

Closed right now. Posted on the YJ page also. I'll call Adams in the A.M. Since they will be doing the regear.

There certainly is a carrier break on the Dana 30. One carrier for 3.54 and higher and a different carrier for 3.73 and lower (ratio).

This is correct. In other words, a 3.73 carrier will handle 4.88s just fine.

If the offer is still open when I return, I should be available.

If it isn't, we will find the problem.

I know well find it no problem. I got a pretty damn good deal on the RE1600 trackbar. And its obviously a lot better than stock.

You will likely need a 5/8 drill bit just so you know.
