Greg,

The replacement tanks have problems. They don't have the filler neck right and the vent and breathers are in the wrong spots. I've been down this road before and that's why I don't have one of those.

Also, I'm not stupid enough to think you can weld on a tank full of gas.

I already have it drained, and I will have it dropped tomorrow night. Unless they are totally paranoid, I see no reason a reputable shop cannot repair it.

The proper method is to wash it with soapy water several times, and let it dry/air out.

Then you pump it full of co2 or argon or some inert gas to displace any fumes or oxygen, and weld away.

Or some people say to fill it with water and weld away.

Haha. Our guest bathroom has like single ply sandpaper. It's awful.

I totally see the massive hole in that picture too by the way! Marn, I feel for you man, that sucks big time! What a pain! If you want, we can cut the roof off and maybe pop a hole in the floor to drop a nice fuel cell into before we cage it up?

BTW, just watched blazing saddles in the movie theater! Yep, you heard that right! The only 2 black guys in the theater were even laughing their asses off!

You need to auger your toilet to make the ultra butt wipe flow through.

It's got the case torn off it right now and is in a million pieces. LOL Not sure honestly right now. "fixing it" at this moment, could be "for sale" again tomorrow night though. I had 4 people email me this morning on the darn thing so unloading it should be easy! Weighing options right now to see what my best move is which sucks cause tomorrow nights and most of this weekend's plans involved using it. I was 100% for sure selling it earlier today and buying a new one on my lunch break till my local go to welding guru who bleeds miller blue and sells miller products unexpectedly to me told me I'm an idiot and need to fix my lincoln! The dude has never once said a good word about lincoln products till today when I told him I wanted the best deal he could get me on a miller... I trust this dude as he's a welding god compared to me. He may come by tomorrow night and see what I've got going on. We're going to see value vs. cost and see what the right choice for me right now is...

Wasn't implying that you would expect or assume anyone would weld with it full of gas, just meant that most of the shops I have run into thus far would not touch anything that has held gas fumes; most likely because it requires additional safety practices and work and they usually have enough work to be able to easily turn it down without worry of losing additional business.

No diminished intellect implied nor intended.

you guys with cheap tp crack me up. Heck I go cheap, but not that cheap. I think it is something like $14 for the sam's club brand and you get 36 rolls. That comes out to maybe $.005 every time you take a dump.
