I love schooling people on jeep stuff. Just had a guy come look at my jeep and said he likes it but has heard horror stories about the transfer cases blowing up. Last I heard the transfer cases in these are one of the last things to go lol

All you need to do is roll down a hill to around 30-40mph in 4lo with the clutch disengaged! Lol

Nope, the driveshafts spin the TC gears and chain, and because its either 2.72:1 or 4.0:1, it essentially triples or quadruples the speed of the gears/chain. Normally, they are ok at correct operating speeds, but up around 40mph, things start going bad. That's why you're not supposed to exceed 15-20mph in 4lo.

he is saying to basically spin it in 4L that fast. Basically the transfer case is not designed for that type of rpm. Just think of it if you had 3.73 gears and a nv241 transfer case with a 2.72:1 ratio. So basically for every rotation of the tire the transfer case chain would be spinning @ 10.15 time for every rotation of the tire. Now if your are on 33's, a 33" tire will have a circ of 103.7", which equals 8.64 ft. 5280ft/mile -----> 611.1 revs/mile. So for every mph you go in 4L your transfer case chain is spinning at roughly 6000 rpm now multiply that by 40 mph and you have 240,000 rpm

I don't think any mass produced vehicle could handle that kind of rpm.

Either that would be really cool, or really uneventful. Still would be cool to hear the noise it makes...
