Yes I understand the benefits of a diesel motor. I just don't feel that those benefits would out way the ease of a modern gas engine. The weight would be a huge factor as well. I won't do a lot of obstacles when I'm with a bunch of jeeps in my truck because I doubt the ability of someone being able to pull me out. I would think a diesel FSJ would be worse.
I'm not saying it wouldn't be a pretty sweet swap but for the normal guy and a normal rig on a budget I wouldn't do it. Just buy a diesel truck.

I would be way happy with this and at $1000 bucks without the bed it would be way cheaper then a swap. http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/3659331752.html
My dad has the same truck minus the turbo and it has 330,000 miles on it. Usually gets 15-18 mpg and that is with a non functioning over drive.

That looks like a good start to a chase truck.

I've been reading about the vw Jetta tdi engine swaps into TJs and they're reporting 25-30mpg in mixed driving. Not too much more weight either. Lots of work and money, but it's a lot of torque and mpg. It's basically for someone that has money falling out of their arse and want something no one else has.

Well, hoping tonight I can say the front 1/3rd and rear 1/3rd of the race truck is 100% done. Hoping tomorrow night I can say that the drivetrain is 100% done. Hoping by the end of the weekend I can say the middle 1/3rd of the truck is done also which in turns means the entire race truck is finished! Hoping being the key word in each of those sentences!

if i can get my hands on some Wide track axles, i can run them with 31's and probably be okay....

but i dont want to give up my 33's

But then again, they rub anyway....

35s or 37s would be a better idea.

Marn, that salton sea trip you spoke of, this fun little obstacle is there...

Next year is going to be a good year! I want to hit up TDS weekend out there! I also am going to either do the rubicon or moab. One or the other for sure!
