Hey now, it's a classic, it deserves to be adorned with the chrome it came with from the factory!

well if you guys think going with OEM rims and caps on a vintage rig id 'pimpin' it out, i'm sorry. I must have bad taste.

Anybody have any opinions on running a 10.50" tire on a 6" wide rim? Khris? this seems pretty common in the yota world running on the stock 6" alloys. lots of them seem to like that combo, but any manufatures website and tire shop will tell you NOOOOO to a 10.50 on a 6"

I know it's VERY popular to run a 12.50 wide on a 7" and 8" wheel in the prerunner scene so why couldn't you do a 10.50 on a 6"? I don't see any issue with it. It's going to sit a bit taller then typical but popping it off a bead won't be an issue! (I've ran countless 12.50's on a 8" rim... 12.5-8=4.5 10.5-6=4.5 See where I'm going with that? LOL Height may have a little play in it but personally I think you're fine doing it.)

And for the record, stock is boring!

keep in mind that even though it's still 4.5" in both situations, the 4.5" difference is a larger percentage of the rim width in the 6" rim situation vs. the 8" rim situation.

4.5" difference is 75% of the actual width of the 6" rim,

4.5" difference is about 55% of the actual width of the 8" rim

i think thats where the difference comes in.

So that's where all the sand drag jeeps disappeared to! LOL Used to see them all the time at glamis and they seemed to slowly disappear more and more over time as the high HP long travel buggies came onto the scene over the last 10 years or so... I know Baldwin was out there with his prerunner, an sightings of him flying that thing in the dunes?

Marn, I see what you're saying but I still think you'll be fine. I think it's an issue of sidewall angle and the bead being able to seat properly. One way to find out!!! LOL

i also believe the OEM rims are 3.5" backspacing, which will put me .25" closer to my fenders, which already rub terribly in the back.

Scary thought. but also i guess the narrower rim will squish the tire a bit and maybe pull it a bit thinner.

I also suppose i could always roll my fenders like they do in the street car worls. that would gain me almost 1/2" clearance

The narrower wheel will for sure suck the sidewall in and make the tire overall narrower but it also will grow the overall height of it too.
