My wife asked if it might be you, but I know what your Jeep looks like. I think I would have recognized the Jeeps of those who post in this thread regularly.

Figured out who it was. Someone who reads this thread often, but just lurks in the background. Stalker.

Mrs. StupidBunny and I plan on exploring a few mines late tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday the 21st), which is probably too soon for me, but I have to get out of this house. Nothing too strenuous. I'll probably just sit and enjoy the view mostly.

When the sun sets we'll be taking the south to north route of Cottonwood Pass from Goodsprings and exiting at Blue Diamond. Since the sun sets just after 5PM, we should be back on Blue Diamond well before 8PM. It's not a technical trail at all. No real obstacles or inclines. Anyone else?

Trail run on Saturday after thanksgiving! Either anniversary mine, or one I found on a map in the sheep range. Don't know much about that one, but anniversary mine is a quickie. Just a mine and a short slot canyon just past it. All are invited. PM me I you can make it. I'll try to keep my inbox clear.

Wish I could go. What road were you thinking about in the Sheep Range?

We were going to go on the Mormon well road and take the one(forgot its name) past the hidden forest cabin. The mine is on the west side of that valley. We are going to run anniversary mine instead. Meeting at the Starbucks on desert in. And eastern at 800. Parking on the east side of the building because it's a bigger lot

We ended up running Cottonwood Pass last night. I'm very familiar with that trail, but without reference points, it's easy to lose perspective. From Goodsprings to Blue Diamond, it's 11 miles. We finished it in about half an hour. When I can see the entire trail ahead of me, I see patches of road that I think need 4WD. When I had to make driving decisions based on just what is in front of me, I noticed the road wasn't that bad at all. Didn't need 4WD the entire way.

As we approached Blue Diamond, we came up to a VW van stopped in the middle of the trail. We hit it with both of our spot lights. Didn't see anyone, so we started looking to the sides and down the trail. When I got out, I saw a head pop up in the van. Then another head. The side door opened and a man wearing just a coat came out.

I asked him if he was ok or needed help. He said he was fine and that he and his "old lady" were just having dinner. I shined the light towards her and asked if she was ok. She said she was, but just embarassed. We drove around them and let them get back to "dinner". I think they thought we were police.

Thanks. The staff at St. Rose Hospital are great, but of course, I'd rather be home. Thanks again.

We did cottonwood from the Blue Diamond area where the road is the most pitted and steep in some places. I came across this crazy lady in a compact import dragging her car across the rocks lol. She must have come all the way from Good Springs. There is a small detour on the left if you are heading south that leads up a hill to that face in the rock. I bet Las Vegas looks amazing at night from that hill top vantage. I didn't notice the face until I looked at my photos later. It seems like people shoot shotguns there a lot. Sign that is up there is riddled with buckshot.

Gonna check out davidsonlaw's page next for info but curious... Anyone had .gpx files for potato ridge?

Also, 3 of us might give it a shot this sunday. I'm not too worried about my jeep but...

Stock 2011 rubicon?
open axles, TJ on 33's?

Any worries of body damage, immanent doom, no way?

I made it starting from the red rock side in a stock rubicon JKU a few months back. This is going down most of the rough stuff. If your buddy is in a 2 door, he should be fine.

As for going up it (into red rock) I have not done it yet.

As for the guy in the tj, he should make it clearance wise, worst case scenario you might have to stack some rocks

Sounds easy enough... Thanks a lot! I just wasn't sure what it was like. The two others are pretty new to the whole scene. I'm actually thinking about hitting up cold creek first as none of us have been over that pass and then depending on time/daylight consider Potato but if not save it for next time. We just got back from a weekend wheeling around the Parker, Az area and they both did fine with no issues. If anything I had the most problems as I've been having transmission issues lately. I'm gonna try and get the fluid flushed this week in hopes of milking a little more life out of it. I need to start research trans swaps though for possibly this spring or summer.

The guy in the TJ should be fine. I ran it with my dads friend in a stock TJ and he only got high centered once but it wouldn't have happened if he took a better line. No body damage except for his stock side steps and a slight dent in the front bumper
