question # 435 for the gun freaks.

I have bought both of my guns used.... so I did not have to deal with any of the extra stuff, therefore I do not know any of it.

I was just reading about this 11% Federal Firearms and Ammunition Excise Tax that is added to a full rifle. I have looked this up, but I cannot seem to find the answer. So if I buy a complete AR, I have to pay the 11% federal tax and the 8.1% for Clark County.

Or is the tax already added into the price of the rifle by the manufacture/seller? Because if I buy a gun for 1k I will pay $190 in taxes... I will just be buying a lower and go from there.

You pay the price of the rifle, sales tax, and a background check fee. The background check fee is usually $25.

Even if you buy just the lower, you still pay all of that. The lower in the eyes of the BATF is the AR itself. The lower receiver is the only part of the rifle that is serially controlled.

Trigger groups came in yesterday. The top one in the picture is for my little brother. It has an ambi-safety and will be getting a left handed upper.

ok, so the tax is added in for the total price. I could not find that anywhere except that it was only on the lower if you piece one together. That makes it pretty crazy when you think about new frontier's polymer lowers. By the time that you take the tax and everything out, it must only cost 10 bucks to build.

Dammit, i wish i could go out on sunday but its her only day off, and I'd rather not ditch her to go shooting for the 4th week in a row or whatever haha.

They've got her working nights on weekends as a Som at craft steak now because somebody quit.

Jerk Jk. I think only super Walmart carries ammunition. I also don't think even all of those carry more then shotgun shells.
