I figured since the other thread started out as talking about making a club, and what clubs are available, we should have a thread that's just dedicated to setting up trail runs.
The title says it all, and it'll be less cluttered.
So, the 9/18/10 Run to Potato Ridge was a success!
Next item on the schedule is Logandale on 10/23/10 according to McRoberts. Seems like we have a few interested parties! Who all is planning to attend?
If there is anything in the meantime, or someone local wants another rig to ride with them, just post up and see if anyone is available!
I did part of the angels peak trail today. I went from 95 then took the side trail to kyle canyon. The trail was pretty washed out compared to the summer when I did it last
Either the price of tents have gone up drastically or you guys are a bit nuts paying that much! Does that tent have a kitchen sink or a toilet or built in heater or what the heck makes it so special? Please explain cause I'm can't think of a single reason that's any better then my tent that takes about 5 minutes to setup, cost a butt load less when I bought it and hurts a heck a lot of a less when I trip and fall in or out of it from having too many drinks around the campfire when trying to go to bed or make a 3am pee run.
They are worth every penny. I paid almost $500 for my REI 6 man tent that only sleeps 2 1/2 when you put cots in it and that is a great tent. The RTT is much sturdier and more comfortable. It is a breeze to set up and take down and you can store the bedding in the folded tent. Since it is mounted on my trailer, it is one less thing to pack and doesn't take up additional space and actually acts as a cover to protect items in the trailer. Mine is only 4 feet off the ground, but a tent mounted on a Jeep is 6+ feet which is a lot more secure when you are in critter country. You also can't deny the "cool factor". You pull into a camp site and people make very positive comments and ask a lot of questions.
I am a big fan of buying the best quality you can afford and saving up for what you really want. The Tepui tent is a little pricey, but it is a bargain when compared to other brands. I did a lot of homework before pulling the trigger and Tepui was a quality product at a good price.
I'm with you Khris, those things look really cool and all but DANG that's expensive! I'll throw down my $45 tent and $30 air mattress and save the other $800 for Jeep parts.

Hey to each their own! I have a bad *** tent that I have saved for AND I have everything thing else for my jeep that I've wanted to do with it. How's is this any different than buying a bunch of AR parts to build a gun that will only cost more and more money to use when you can have a little 22 and have just as much fun, IMO? Like, I said to each their own.

Exactly why I don't have an AR and I do shoot a little .22 not hating on your tent so no reason to get your panties in a wad.. I just can't justify that kinda $$$ for something I wouldn't use very often, especially when I've got something that already works.
Guaranteed though, those things look awesome enough to try starting to come up with some reasonable justification.

No panties in a wad here. I think it's all personal choice on what and how to spend their earned money! Now if I were on gov't assistance I believe you'd have a justifiable reason to have an opinion on how I spend my money. Haha.
Time for you guys to go back to talking about stripped lowers and gay porn caves and which part of town has better scorpions. Carry On!
