I know you have the same days off, Blaze. You just let me know when you can go and we'll go get lost out there.

Actually, I've been sick and unable to work for a while. Tuesdays and Wednesdays is when my wife has off. She'll beat me up if I go and she misses something good.

I usually leave my house around 10:00 and get home by around 2 or 3:00. We can move the times around if you have a schedule issue.

Decided to head to good springs tomorrow via Blue Diamond and possibly stay overnight. Found some cheap rooms south of that but does anyone know of any decent camp sites or motels near there? I have a feeling we will have a few at the Pioneer.

I just called and the girl said it was fine to sleep in the truck next to the bar lmao.

There aren't any motels in Goodsprings anymore. I don't think there are. There is a hotel casino just down the road at I-15. Maybe 10 minutes east of Goodsprings.

There are plenty of good camping spots out there. Here are a couple I scouted:
3550'46.12"N 11529'12.34"W
3551'0.87"N 11529'46.85"W

Both have flat areas wide enough for a tent and camp fire. Both are also in small valleys that offer some protection from the wind and some privacy.

If you plan on exploring the mines, just make sure your campfire fire is below any mine extrances. CO2 from campfires will settle at the lowest points. If your fire is above and close to a mine, it can quickly make the air in the mine unsafe.

A few years ago, a couple Marines camping next to a mine died that way. They camped by the mine and went in the next morning.

Thanks a lot Rabbit. My next question is about what I see on Google Earth. Is that a road coming off of BD that goes all the way to Goodsprings? It looks like I can take Eagle Ranch Rd. and just go off road where it intersects with W.Cougar ave and take that all the way to Goodsprings.

Looks like Cottonwood Valley Rd. Is the one. I do not plan on spelunking. I am sure that nothing that is in a cave wants anything to do with me or I it. Thanks again for the coordinates! I have a feeling that we will get one of those 40 dollar hotel rooms with a shower!

You can get to Goodsprings from Eagle Ranch, but the first mile or so of Eagle Ranch is hill after very steep hill of loose rock. 4Lo can get you up and over, but it can get ugly in some spots. The best route from Blue Diamond to Goodsprings would be the Cottonwood Pass connector which starts from Blue Diamond here:

3559'50.59"N 11526'48.39"W

Just keep following Cottonwood Pass south, without taking any forks, until you reach here:
3551'27.18"N 11526'40.59"W

Town of Goodsprings is just south of there or you can follow the previous coordinates to the camp sites.

If you'd rather find a shower and bed, you should head south to Goodsprings and head East on Goodsprings Rd. toward I-15. The Gold Strike Hotel and Casino is right there at the interstate. Maybe 10 minutes from Goodsprings.

If you want to save some time, you can get to that hotel directly by just heading south on I-15. If it were me, that's what I would do if I wanted a hotel. Just stay at the hotel and get a nice rest that night. Head to Goodsprings early, do your exploring and just start south and work your way north, exiting at Blue Diamond.

It's a nice route I think you might enjoy more.

My meds are kicking in. Goodnight!

Potosi mine was awesome today. Although, it proved to me how out of shape I am. . Great view HUGE mine with all kinds of shafts and multiple levels. Had great time. Thanks to everyone who joined us and hope to see more next time.
