Where are the So. CA trails at?

What trails do you recommend for a newbie? I want to get the new JK off the freeway and have a little fun but do it safely. I don't want to be posting in the "Pictures of my rolled Jeep" section!

So, what trails our out here in So CA that are 'easy' in nature that won't get me upsidedown. Thanks in advance!

Big Bear has a rang of trails from "Fire Road" to "Yea Im not Doing that trail" Level... Also silverwood has some decent trails, Claghorn off the 15 takes you into silverwood. Calico has some various skill level trails and you get to check out the old mines. There is the trail that starts at 138 and runs you up into the high desert i thinks that trail is Baldy Mesa Rd auctally....

There is Devils Bowl that is fun to check out....

What part of So Cali are you in?! Feel Free to hit me up.

I'm in Long Beach, looking for some people to hit the trails with. I've only checked out big bear on my skiis, but the jeep should be equally fun.

Could any one tell me where I could find some maps of the area?

Are you crazy?! You can't take a JK off road!

Kidding. They do OK on dirt roads as long as you go real slow.

Now if it had square headlights, you could take it to Anza Borrego and try to fit it through "The Squeeze" or "Heart Attack Hill" to "break it in".

But since it has round headlights, better not try more than a speed bump at the mall.... lol

Just messin' with you. There are tons of places in California to wheel, but it's a big state. Can you narrow it down to an area you would like to stay within?

SO CAL Trails

Drinkwater Flats and Rowher Flats just north of Santa Clarita are pretty nice.

Rowher is off Sierra Hwy and Drinkwater off San Francisquito Cyn Rd. There is a trail up Boquet Cyn near the reservoir that actually connects over to Rowher flats.

I don't live in the area anymore but I've heard there were some closures do to the fires. I'd check before you waste a days drive.

Myself, I live in Pasadena, CA. I go to Gorman often to ride dirt bikes. I have had my jeep out farting around there and had fun. You can make it as hard of a trip as you would like. Plenty of space to just play around and get used to the vehicle. Like everyone else said. There are plenty of places here in CA, could you be more specific on where you are looking to get out and wheel.

I'm out in the Inland Empire. New to the whole Wrangler think so what to "ease" into it. RickRotor I took the Brea Mall trail and took on a few of the bigger speed bumps I could find - I think I'm ready to move up now!

Seriously, I'm used to 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and 140-155 mph and comfortable with the race track where other folks would seriously poop their pants - that's where I'm at right now with 45 degree hills! Best to be safe an crawl (not the mall) before I walk and then run! It's called using your head.

I was up in Big Bear yesterday. We ran Deep Creek, Gold Mountain, and John Bull. We had a JK with us, and he didn't have any real problems. Here he is getting up the waterfall on Deep Creek.

Go out to the Mohave desert! It only extends from so. cal. all the way into Nevada and is the largest public owned land in the U.S. approx. the size of Connecticut. You should be able to find a few places to wheel out there.
