No need to register but it helps fund the fight to keep trails open. They also have an incredible raffle so you win either way. Firework show Saturday night is awesome and the area is just a blast to wheel at. There will be hundreds if not thousand of jeeps and other vehicles to drool over and get build ideas.

I guess you're talking about Desert Safari, that is in Anza Borrego. I believe that the club that kinda puts the event on Tierra Del Soul 4X4 Club. Is that what you are talking about?
Wish I could go But it is way too far for me.

Yep. That is the event I am talking about. Definitely a good time. Too bad you cannot make it, but with fuel prices, I understand. A 4.5 hour drive for me.

Yep. You would have a drive then. California is such a huge state. Sounds like you are in the beautiful northern. Snow country.

I'm heading down for my first time. Anything I should know? I'll be tent camping with my girlfriend.

Things I learned from KOH:
bring cash
there ARE food vendors
30,000 people make a lot of dust

These probably also apply

You can read about jeeps all you want, but if you take a jeep that you don't love out on the trail, she'll shake you down just as sure as the the turning of the world. Love keeps her going when she ought to break down, tells you she's hurting before she dies. It's a jeep thing, you probably won't understand.

I should point out that I'm new to TDS, desert camping on the other hand, I'm pretty well versed

Supposed to be 85* during the day so bring water. There are porty potties all over, food vendors galore on site, gas and food mart a few miles away, so you could camp under the stars with just a bit of wood.
Bring money for the raffle, an awesome good time. Hopefully I win something this year.
If any of you all will be rolling through Ventura area around 3:30 is Friday, you can join our small group. We will be slow going as I have a pop up in tow and plan to stop at OutdoorWorld to eat dinner and catch a rest.
