SOCAL Ocotillo Wells 4x4 fundraiser for Disabled Veterans...Operation Desert Fun!!

Hey wheelers, Offroad Desert Fun 5 at Ocotillo Wells SRVA is right around the corner and I want you to be there!!

When: October 12-13.
Where: Ocotillo Wells SRVA
Why: To have fun offroading and more importantly, to raise $$$ for our deserving disabled military veterans!!

This is a HUGE fundraiser event my club Geared 4Fun in San Marcos at http://www.geared4fun.com/ is sponsoring and it's for a GREAT cause... don't miss it!!!

This event has runs for all skill levels and for all 4x4 vehicles from stock to monster rock crawler. SUVs, 4x4 vehicles, motorcycles, and ATVs. Whether you drive a stock 4x4 or a highly modified 4x4 go-anywhere monster, this event has a fun trail for you!

There's a Poker Run Friday night and plenty of offroad action all day Saturday plus two BIG raffles for great 4x4 items Saturday night.. There's also a Powder Puff Run where all participants must either be a woman or dress like one. ;)

For the second year in a row, there's also an RC Truck Challenge so if you have an RC truck, bring it!!

Two cool raffles Saturday night, one for the kids (this is a kid-friendly event!) and one for adults.

To register online and to see more details on Operation Desert Fun 5, click on http://www.cal4wheel.com/ and then click on the Operation Desert Fun link. The link to register is at the very top of the Operation Desert Fun page.

Come on guys and ladies, this is for a good cause!! So even if you can't go, REGISTER FOR IT ANYWAY as the $35 for registration (which includes a VERY cool dash plaque) and anything else you buy like shirts or hats are for a good cause (disabled vets!!!) and are fully tax deductible.

It's also very important to note that drinking alcoholic beverages on the trail is not tolerated at Operation Desert Fun. Anyone observed drinking on the trail will be asked to leave immediately. Save the adult beverages for around the campfire at night after all the wheeling is done when they are acceptable when done in reasonable moderation.
Be there!!! :cheers2:

Hey Jerry, I signed up and paid the reg fee a couple of weeks ago, will they send anything here or is there a check-in out there?

My first time going, heading out Friday afternoon, should be a blast. Going to take the RV and tow the Jeep, hopefully I can score a decent spot to set up camp. I usually stay down by Blair Valley but don't want to have to commute to Ocotillo Wheels:p

Check in is out there so there will be a bag with your name on it that has everything you ordered like if you bought a t-shirt. There's plenty of room to camp by the main area. Hopefully we can meet up and shake hands out there.

woohoo, new t-shirts!!

Ya can't miss me, I'll be the one driving a Jeep

I think I'll make it for Sat night and Sunday. I've got to do a garage sale on Saturday morning.

[Editted by Jerry Bransford: All items for sale must be only listed in the For Sale forum.]

It's officially over Saturday night though the trails aren't closed on Sunday. :)

Damn, I wish I could get out for this entire weekend, I am stuck at Yuma for WTI. I am gathering some fellas and we are going to try to get out there for one day, we only get one day a week.

Jerry Bransford 10-10-2007 11:33 AM

If you come out, get there bright and early Saturday morning when the runs start. Most runs are starting by around 8am, and are lined up well before then. Plus you need to get registered and have your Jeep pass a safety/equipment check.

The time now is 10:04 PM.
