Smog in Socal

Hey guys I'm new to the scene - I just bought a 2000 jeep wrangler TJ in Georgia - it just got into CA & I need to get it smoged. Any ideas in the Temecula, Murrieta, Riverside area - I know the cat is not going to pass - ideas suggestions?

have it pre-tested and get an idea of what its going to pass/fail
once you find out what it passes/fails, go from there

a lot of places will give a 2nd test for free, so if you fail the first time, get it fixed, then they will smog it again, free

I brought my 1997 TJ here in 1998 from Florida and it has passed every emissions test. Initially the DMV tried to hit me with an emissions "fine" because it had Federal Emissions but not California, but that rule has since been changed and I actually got the fine back.

Why would you think you're cat won't pass?

Throw in a new air filter, get a new gas cap if yours is questionable and make sure you aren't throwing any codes and you should be fine if it is running good.

^^^^^ i agree with this. as long as your "check engine light" is not on and the jeep is running fine your chances are good that youll pass.

Thanks for the responses - I took it Monday & he told me it barely passed in the low speed zone. But I'm glad it passed!! now I can spend my money fixing up other stuff. Thanks again

If you were in the Anaheim area I have a great SMOG Shop. never below board but reasonably priced and great on repairs.
