still thinking about the sye.. not sure i really need it since i'm only running 2" spacers.. and i don't want to spend the extra money on the sye kit and new driveshaft.. haha

the jeep has really been hard on the wallet lately..

What output style 242 do you have? I'd rather put a sye on it and not have my jeep down while I take it apart. Just slap the sye in and swap cases

96 4.0 zj 242, .840" input shaft length, the output is exposed slip yoke. Seals drip some atf throughout the day.

97 dakota 231D HD, .840 input shaft length, has an internal slip yoke output. Clean case with no leaks. This case will bolt up but the output is long as ****, is 31 spline, and has no spot for a speedo gear. The solution is either shorten your driveshaft and change the slip yoke to a dodge 31 spline and live with no speedometer ( sucks if you have an auto trans) OR install a jeep 231 sye kit. One nice thing about this dodge case is it has a wider chain than any jeep 231.

after doing some reading.. seems like the 242 is the only option where i can get away w/ using the stock rear driveshaft? gotta try to keep costs low.. as i'm planning to swap out my ball joints and wheel bearings soon..

The 242 i have is about 1.5" longer overall than my stock 249. Since my tranny is a couple inches shorter than the stock auto, i needed a longer t case to be able to use my stock driveshaft.

The slip yoke isike 3 or 4 inches long, and id say it only moves an inch, maybe up to 1.5 inches, from full suspension stuff to full droop. Can you grab a pic of your tcase rear output with the driveshaft?

For Sale:

Custom heavy duty XJ roof rack. Designed just for the XJ by my buddy Paul it's served him really well and bolts down to the roof and provides a great flat surface with tie down points and side walls to protect a large load!

I don't have an asking price right now, but when I get one ill update. Just let me know!

My buddy spun out on his way home from work in the rain storm and his XJ hit the barrier in the front left and back right and he wants to scrap it. But not before selling the custom roof rack.
