No problem, better safe than sorry!

Question guys: Anyone know a competent, reasonably-priced exhaust shop in the tustin/orange area? The closer the better, straight headers get a lot of attention

My in-laws live in Wildomar, I go out there quite often but have never hit those trails. I would love to some time. I've driven over the Ortegas and seems like there is opportunity up there and around the foothills on the Wildomar side.

I'd like to not roll or get arrested so I'll definitely err on the side of caution and plan a time when I can take a buddy!

I think either the morning of the 7th or 8th I will be going to Azusa Canyon if its open for some film shooting for a car show that wants offroad footage of my JP Jeep. If anyone else wants to tag along I'll probably post some information here later this week. Not sure which day we will go yet, remember $8 entry fee! But you may get to see 2-3 JP Jeeps haha.

ON A SIDE NOTE: Does anyone have experience swapping rings/pinions in an axle? I have been looking for a 8.8 with 4:10 from the Junkyard for years and there is never one when I go. I have a set of 4:10 gears in a box somewhere for an 8.8 and I know the carrier is the same between the 3:55 (or whatever the common ratio is) and the 4:10. So I am considering just getting a disc brake leaf 8.8 and swapping the gears myself. I have access to a mill, micrometers, depth gauges, presses, and a decent amount of tools at the Lab I work at.

Anyone have a 231j or 242j with external slip yoke they would like to sell?

I have a 231d hd, which would require a slip yoke eliminator (any 231j sye will work) to fit a jeep. Has a wider chain than 231j, if anyones planning to sye a 231j, this 231d hd would be a bit of an upgrade, and a jeep tcase would allow my stock driveshaft to work.

Thanks

Dude delta i dont know how you are havin so much trouble finding an 8.8. I was tripping over eligible explorers at tye anaheim and stanton yards. Even ecology in santa fe springs.

Btw, 4.0 zj guys, there was a nice looking magnaflow muffler and tailpipe for a 4.0 at the ecology today. Nicr and shiny and no forklift **** ups

Oh there is no shortage of 8.8.... the problem is every time I go there is never a 4:10 8.8 only the higher 3.55 or 3.07 or whatever ratio which is common. I have a 4:10 ring and pinion but I have mixed feelings about regearing an 8.8 if I can help it.

By the tag on the differential and on the door, I always check both. If one or the other is missing I still generally believe it if the system looks untouched.

The door label has the axle codes and the metal tag on the housing does too.

PYP stanton has an xj that had about 3 inch rustys lift. Only thing left are all 4 shocks, look real new, like 3 months old at the most.

3 hp d30s, non disco, 3.73 gears also. And a bunch of 8.8s but i dunno the ratio

I dunno about shaft length, are you asking what it would cost for a full axle swap? Itll bolt right in so maybe 2-3 hours shop rate, but if you can pull it you can install it. Driveshaft shortening and balance should be about $100, not including u joints if you need those too. If the slip joint is shot theres no saving it

Id imagine there should be enough slip built into the ds to make up for the difference. But if not i have 3 different length driveshafts, lemme find out which one i need and the other two will be available. Ill know on sunday
