Willys should be rolling nicely in a week or two! Just waiting on an exhaust gasket and an adapter for the turbo oil line, and it's ready to run! Then I'll throw on the new drum brakes and get started on the wiring. I keep on meaning to start on the wiring, but keep putting it off, lol!

It definitely needs better brakes, I drove it down the street 2 weekends ago (without the turbo) and it doesn't have near the engine braking compared to the old gas engine, the only thing to slow down the vehicle is the brakes. It definitely feels less safe now that i can't really engine brake that much

My mom is coming to visit for the holiday weekend and she's never been offroading. She's not really into the whole tent camping thing, so I was thinking about renting a small camper from Cruise America or something and spending the whole weekend somewhere. Don't really care too much where as long as there are some difficult trails.

I'm guessing when the willys first rolled off the line they wern't expecting them to have that much power

If Panamint is to far, lets figure out another spot. .

Here's some other choices,

1. Calico

2. Johnson Valley, including Cougar Buttes.

3. Last Chance Canyon, including Nightmare Gulch.

Suggest another spot, or vote for one of these.

I love Calico, but I've done it a million times and there's really only 2 trails so I feel we'd get bored after a day and a half... Same with LCC/NG.
JV on the otherhand has tons of trails and I've only been there once before so that'll get my vote. I know literally nothing about Panamint Valley. It is a bit far, but if that's where everyone wants to go and the trails are good, I'll be there.

Yeah CB would be fun. The only other trails I know about in JV are the hammer trails. I doubt many in our group would want to attempt those. I know my jeep isn't ready for the hammers. Lol. Is Motino near there? I've crisscrossed JV a few times, it's big. Let's see what others vote on. I'm cool with whatever.

What about borego springs/ocotillo wells? That maybe to far for you LA girls. :P

I agree with SkylarM on calico therefor I off of this list I'd say JV (minus the hammers).

I found this online. Lengthy video and would not play on my iPad. So I cannot vouch for it but it's described as: Rattlesnake Canyon - Mottino Wash trail and Cougar Buttes-Bull Frog trail
