Ok. That makes me want to clarify, I guess there are several place were oil will go. :haha:

Yes I was just referring to engine oil. I run it in my BMW because that's what was in it when I got it. It's been nice to not have to change the oil every two months.

With the low speed off roading, idling, and in town commute to work I was thinking that maybe worse for the rig.

I don't think its bad for the jeep. Just not worth the cost for people. Synth runs cooler so itd probably be better id imagine. Ive heard switching to synth could cause leaks to get worse because the particles are smaller. Again, not sure though

I run full synthetics all around for a variety if reasons.

In the motor because the synthetic holds up better to the heat of the turbo.

In the axles because I flat-tow for thousands of miles at highway speeds, and it helps dissipate heat from the higher gears.

In the transfer case for the same flat-towing reason as above.

Non-synthetic oil is mostly decomposed dinosaurs (and other hydrocarbons).

From Urban Dictionary:

1. dino oil

Motor oil derived from traditional hydrocarbon/crude-oil sources (decomposed dinosaurs and plant matter). Also often referred to as "mineral" based oil. This in in contrast to the new synthetic lubricants which have to be "manufactured" from various chemicals rather then just simply boiled off from a crude-oil source. Synthetics are seens as superior to dino oil since the manufacturing process is more controlled and may not require the polymer additives to achieve the same desirable lubricating properties. Synthetics are also more expensive then dino oil.

Not sure. I'll have to look in the garage when I get home.

I think it was Lucas Oil, but I'm not sure.
