If it was invented anywhere else they'd of called it a Teeth Brush.

Those of you who run with a fire extinguisher, what type do ya run? I'm wanting to start taking one with me in the Willys, since I carry a jerry can of fuel with me (fuel gauge doesn't work, have had to use it more than once!) and it doesn't seal 100% tight (so I only put about 4.5 gallons in it) and, it's old, and I'd hate for it to catch fire and have nothing to put it out with.

From what I'm reading, a BC extinguisher that is Sodium Bicarbonate is best for vehicles, since it cleans up the best and isn't corrosive (as upposed to the Ammonium Phosphate variety). Luckly, that just happens to be the exact fire extinguisher that I have in my kitchen (left by the previous owner) But it's a small one, probably the smallest you can buy. I suppose that would be enough for a vehicle fire, eh? I don't have a whole lot of room in the Willys, how much fire can one of those little extinguishers put out? Says it discharges 2.9 pounds.

If your 5 gallon fuel can catches fire, just RUN!. Not sure what type mine is but ill check as soon as I can for you .you don't want the powder type. Some guys carburetor caught on fire at a gas station once. He had his air cleaner off and I sprayed my fire extinguisher at it and it filled up with powder. He was happy the fire was out but he wasn't happy I filled his engine up with powder.

Wouldn't a new gas can be a better idea?
That or time for the fuel cell and a new gauge that works with the sender in the fuel cell

Here is a thread in JK tech that has more than you need to know about fire extinguishers > http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f96/p...shers-1355338/
A good point brought up in that thread is of getting an extra extinguisher or two and actually trying it out on a controlled fire so you aren't fighting the real thing the first time out!

I keep two marine B-C's under the front seats for easy reach.

Powder fire extinguishers work fine on gasoline fires, ask me how I know.
