Type in: jeep spare inside

Google has a lot of info. Here is a link for a Cherokee. Imagine it'll be similar.

I like the spare in the tub too, but I've found the aesthetics aren't worth the sacrifice of cargo space... Personal opinion.

I second this. It's a big pita having my tire inside.

Flat towing my jeep tomorrow, been awhile. 2005 rubicon, Standard 6 spd. Book says transfer case, and transmission both in neutral, and ignition one click forward so the column is unlocked.

Does this sound right? I remember someone discussing this awhile back on here. Someone saying leave the trans in gear. Book says neutral, and neutral.

I couldn't weigh in accurately, though I've read stories of people tearing up their transfer case so be careful.

Couldn't get your car trailer fixed? Drop it off and I'll rewire it for you

What art said. Case in neutral and trans in the highest gear.

I don't have it in front of me, but I'm pretty sure my book says trans in gear, transfer case in neutral.

I've towed my LJ this way for over 10k miles.

I remember you and another person saying this a long time ago.. I remember it because it sounds strange.

Something about keeping oil circulating in the tranny or something?

The transmission oil pump is input shaft powered. The case spinning is enough to spin the transmission output shaft which means the trans isnt getting lubricated. Putting it in gear stops it from moving. The case is oiled by it spinning so its okay.

10-4 transfer in neutral, and trans in gear. I read in my book where it says that for automatics. Mines a stick that's why it seems strange.

Just like towing a big rig, you do not want the transmission output shaft to turn
